Romney: Give $1,000 to every US adult

Directly from Romney's email:

Immediately Send $1,000 Checks to Each American: Every American adult should immediately receive $1,000 to help ensure families and workers can meet their short-term obligations and increase spending in the economy. Congress took similar action during the 2001 and 2008 recessions. While expansions of paid leave, unemployment insurance, and SNAP benefits are crucial, the checks will help fill the gaps for Americans that may not quickly navigate different government options.

Yes, although I think priority or MORE should go to anyone who is unable to work right now. Like I live in NYC and can work from home. I don't need that check. But a LOT of my friends do.

I mean, the government is trying to figure out a relief bill right now.

But in the end they'll have to somehow convince Americans that everything will be fine and to go spend money.

Actually, in this case, means testing an economic stimulus isn't necessarily a good idea. It should be given to everybody so that the likelihood of the economy being bolstered by additional spending increases by as much as it possibly can.

That said, with no end in sight to the virus, 1K per person in total isn't going to stimulate the economy enough just as the previous stimulus packages didn't work well enough.

The only reasonable effort to stimulate the economy at this time and to ensure people follow directions from the CDC to limit the expansion of the virus is a temporary universal basic income of at least 1K per month per individual and potentially more for people with children.

Yeah, I see what you mean. I just think we need to prioritize the people that need it to like literally survive VS the additional boost it gives the economy.

Giving more to people with children and such is definitely a no-brainer, I would hope.
