Then why was it barely changed from the leaked version to the official version? :grr:

Because the song was finished?

Well it did create a lot of buzz. But I think they would’ve leaked a low quality version or a snippet of it was an intentional leak. Not a full HQ

Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time.

If people are wondering why she would leak it way in advance, it's more than just single sales. Remember, a single promotes the album. That leak got people talking way more than a regular single release would. Maybe she did it, maybe she didn't, but if she *did*, there could be solid reasoning behind it.

Also this from the article: "If a song were to leak in the digital era, then more casual fans were much less likely to purchase the single, thus negatively affecting the song’s chart position. However, in the streaming era, fans who listen to a leak and enjoy what they hear are compelled to add the track to their streaming platform of choice upon its release. No one prefers listening to random mp3 files in Google Drive when they can just stream it in their native streaming apps."

If it was her team, they should've leaked the demo we got snippets of back in december. Not the final version weeks before an official release.

You just made this up.

Gay Twitter talked about the leak, the general public didn't care.

In order to promote the album through the single, they need to actually reach said GP.  And so far it doesn't seem to be paying off.

...what do you mean i made it up lol a single *does* promote an album, which has always been Gaga's bigger priority, the leak charted on Twitter and was played in gay bars which are visited by more than just stans. I'm pretty sure all the gays posting about it for weeks and playing it in insta stories helped promote to the wider audience. That's leveraging your audience to reach a wider one. Again, whether Gaga did or did not leak it, the gays lifted this song up on social for weeks before the drop and gays are not only followed by other gays. Gaga is much more focused on brand marketing than she is sales-oriented marketing atm so if she *did* do this it would not be devoid of reason. If she wanted the song out earlier for EVERYONE, she'd have dropped it earlier officially with the bigger marketing push, but doing this would be a way to basically start buzz and conversation since she has done this before with Aura. Like, this is a tried and tested Gaga marketing tactic at this point. This is a fairly inexpensive way to market the single before the drop. The leak would have been to get extra buzz and hype, the official drop was for everyone else to really get it. Remember, there's no money in *making* music anymore and it's all in touring so for an artist like Gaga, one who is basically assured at least decent streaming numbers and I'm sure they made some deals as well, it's less about getting all the best numbers and more about creating conversation because conversation sells tickets to shows which is where the bulk of her money comes from.

Idk where the pressed attitude over something this frivolous came from, but call tf down. There's really no need to be rude like that.

Saying that the leak did more than an actual single release with a massive WW push (radio, spotify playlists, music video), is disingenuous.

Traders had it since September/October and leaked it after some internal drama apparently

but everyone does that. She did something "different" so it got people talking. Again, Gaga is about separating herself, and when a lot of pop stars are dropping tracks, what can someone like Gaga do that others can't? Generate insane early hype. Again, I'm saying it's about her brand marketing more than it is just sales. I think you're looking to microscopically.

But what would be the reason behind it? It makes no sense, most of her fans already heard and it means less streams and sales. Hell, even I got tired of it already after 2 weeks of release because I already overplayed the leak.

The article explained the possible reason and it's not far fetched.

Thirty nine

Unpopular opinion (IT IS A PLAN)
I think the leak is planned to promote this era! And to end the rumors that were growing that Lady Gaga will not release new music in 2020, the fans were beginning to feel frustrated. She does not want the decline in sales of ARTPOP era returned again and disappears from the attention of the general public as happened during the Joanne era.
Some say that the leak will not benefit the song in the charts, that is true, but pop music is not at its best. Pop singers are unable to keep up with hip-hop music. Also, the main purpose is to promote the album (this explains the huge tour because it is the main source of money) + album sales (It is expected to be an approach to sales of ARTPOP and Joanne)
In fact, Lady Gaga's song is doing well compared to other songs, compared to Taylor Swift and Katy Perry.

:flop:
