So f*ck John Wayne huh? :selena:

Fans love to gloss over that video because of the album it's tied to but let's not act like that video didn't serve. (aside from the jump cut editing style which I'm sure was purposeful but it's annoying)

I agree with some of your point specifically about the music video. The problem about criticizing SL is it would ruin the experience of those who really loves the song and the era's flow

The Good:

Great, uplifting tune

High Energy

Fantastic choreography

Fun song

i actually love the music video

The not so Good:

Song comes in quick and finishes as quick

Lacks a clear bridge or length. PI was worse in this regard but still...

Thank you for showing how a criticism should be made for those who only drop a "It's basic" line.

And as much I enjoy SL, I agree.

I wish there was more of a chorus tbh. Only because singing along to "I want your stupid love-love ooh uh uh uh uhuh ooh" 60 times a day makes me look a tad silly :lolly:

I do really like the song but the low budget video with dollar store clothing prop wears/fashion decor are kind of a letdown :triggered:

The song, lyrically is not the best. I still believe it needs a longer chorus with actual lyrics. It's more of a refrain than a chorus. The bridge's lyrics also felt a bit like a rough draft. I love the structure tho, the way the pre-chorus is longer than the verses  is so interesting to me.  Vocals, as usual, are strong. Not her strongest work, but it's good enough for a pop comeback.

The MV, I liked it. The song doesn't need a narrative MV anyway since it's just a fun dance song. It doesn't need a story and a good choreo is good enough for it. The only reason some monsters were upset that the video was like that because they were presented with two teasers that felt like there's going to be some narrative in the MV. It does have one but they didn't focus much on it, which is fine. To me, it has replay value.

Overall, I'm satisfied and elated with the song and video. The era's only going to get better from there. I'm also very excited to see how Gaga would talk about the album.

Personally, I think the song is pretty great and the music video strangely works. That being said, it still is a really basic song, considering we are talking about GAGA. I mean, you can say it’s meant to be fun and simple but truthfully, the songs from The Fame were fun and had simple messages but they were also had really clever lyrics, hypnotic beats and the songs very overall just more unique and interesting

That isn't to say that all of Chromatica's songs will be basic though.

Facts. Honestly, what with her hanging out with SOPHIE and Hana and all that gang, I expect there to be some quite unique electronic pop music on Chromatica, and of course she is going to release the most commercially appealing song as the lead single. By basic logic, one would expect the lead to be the most basic. I hope she releases a second single and a promo single, to give us a taster of what else we can expect :vegas:

I do agree with a lot of what you said. Sure on the surface it's a catchy lil pop song with an 80s retro vibe that brings about a nostalgia for people :music:

However, as mentioned, the EXECUTION fell flat in regards to the concept of the video and the overall look...it did feel cheap especially the graphics of crystal mountains and those "I made this for my high school play" outfits the tribes dancers were wearing... :saladga:

The setting took place in 1 location....dirt :awkney:

Even Gaga admitted on NRJ that the song is "simple" and not to be taken too seriously but it doesn't help draw people into the "world" of Chromatica if its deemed so insignificant as an introductory to the album and its theme... makes the GP and fans alike go "EH!"

Oh and I will add this? Can we all appreciate how there is an amazing dancer who is a big girl and yet she can out dance most dancers I know! She is one of the true highlights

Gaga is still going against the trends here. Pop music today is either violent and morose or hypersexually charged. Nobody right now is making uplifting electropop.

i think a big issue with the video was styling for both gaga and the dancers. they look cheap and the iphone filming doesnt help.
