WORLDofGAGA 2,274
I really like the song and the video has grown on me, love the choreography, however it doesn’t feel deep enough for our first intro into the world of Chromatica. Perhaps it’s was an intro to show a fun happy side to the album. Its just missing a certain edge perhaps. When I think of it what other artist could I see singing SL and know one really comes to mind, true Gaga. @W0RLDofGAGA

Pray4FameGa 3,141
To me, it almost feels like Gaga has some pop PTSD, and she can’t be that artist she once was, there’s a wall there. Her videos were weird, intense, a spectacle to behold, so many bold fashion and style choices, a deranged element. She was overflowing with ideas, channeling them constantly as if from another realm. I don’t think we’ll ever see that again, she seems totally over it. I really think Gaga wants to sing jazz and star in movies, but she feels beholden to her loyal fans, and knows they want old Gaga / pop.

She doesnt know how to? she have a blockage? or maybe she is not in that state of mind anymore. Maybe this is the real her and she was faking her artistry and her vision in the past. I think so too, I think the backlash and the fiasco at the end of BTW and ARTPOP scarred her and sometimes I get the impression she never wants to go back to that 'person' again because it is a painful reminder. The thing is, she went full 'Gaga' with this video but it still fell flat. The backdrop/set was absolutely beautiful, and her outfits (minus the neon ones) were gorgeous, the random colors for me ruined it.

I don't believe so, I just think that back then she was more open to letting other professionals take the lead visually whereas now it's a lovefest with the Haus of Gaga. That's great and all, to promote a healthy working environment, but in my opinion it's standing in the way between her and perfect execution.

She did have a lot of collaborators, this time it seems theres a smaller circle around her

Gaga is a creative powerhouse, but sharing the reigns with someone for her visual projects may not be so bad. Still, I'll wait for the full album to drop along with other videos to have my final say. Until then, fingers crossed.
zerojk 4,954
I agree with everything Stupid Love video looked like had good ideas in paper but in execution is just poor yesterday I just watched stupid love, and then I watched Bad Romance and Marry the Night videos and... wow, she used to serve in every video, even in the simple ones like TEOG

ChromaticRaccoon 1,761
Stupid Love certainly isn't her deepest song, but it did have some lyrical substance. "Could this love protect me from the pain?" "All I ever wanted was love." were both pretty heartfelt and deep IMO. The music video wasn't as strong as her older ones, but I appreciated how bright and bubbly it was. I don't think everything needs to be deep and meaningful, sure those songs and videos have a bigger impact on people, but sometimes it's nice to just have a song to dance and sing along too. xoxo Craig 55,649
I can't at you calling Ariana unseasoned... like lmao I guess the flavour is too hot for some she is one of the most talented artists out there today End Racism Now
Floppy 7,951
Not you calling Ariana the McDonald's of pop. WHEW lord. Aside from that you make some valid points though. I love the song and always have which just comes down to opinion I guess. The video was just ok for me. Wish it offered more elevated visuals and effects but I love the choreography and the energy the video held. I guess we'll just have to see what happens next. I've personally yet to be truly disappointed so I'm excited to see what the era offers.
