dynamite 66,556
Just out of curiosity no shade: Why do some people call it the scientific name instead of just coronavirus? I know it's correct but nobody says 'rhinovirus' instead of 'a cold' for example Like a poem said by a neydy in red

I know Asians are being targeted by racists over the virus.

Many types of influenza actually have many scientific names just like COVID-19.

I know it's correct but nobody calls cold and flu rhinovirus and influenza coronaviruses are a large family of viruses so to differentiate between them they name them. The one that originated from Wuhan is COVID-19. Also before giving it a name it was referred to as "novel coronvirus" since it was a new type that they hadn't named before
