truthteller 1,807
ASIB has 78. so if she serves quality like that instead of half-baked concept like ARTPOP, she'll be fine.

I try very hard not to react emotionally on something as trivial as a fan forum dedicated to a musician, but seriously, this is my - and many others' - escape from our worlds that have actual negativity and challenges to handle. Gaga's first three albums were nominated for Grammy awards, a feat only matched by The Beetles at that time if I remember correctly; now, 12 years into her career, every. single. album/soundtrack. she has released has been nominated for a genre Grammy with the exception of ARTPOP. 1. The Fame: AOTY + Best Dance Album (WIN) 2. The Fame Monster: AOTY + Best Pop Album (WIN) 3. Born This Way: AOTY + Best Pop Album 4. C2C: Best Traditional Pop Album (WIN) 5. Joanne: Best Pop Album 6. ASIB: Best Compilation Soundtrack (WIN) TF had 2 songs nominated, with Pokerface winning Best Dance Recording; TFM had 3 songs nominated, with Bad Romance winning Best Pop Solo; BTW had 1 song nominated; Joanne had 2 songs nominated, with Joanne (Piano) winning Best Pop Solo; ASIB had 3 songs nominated, with Shallow and INLA winning Best Song Written for Visual Media. She has widespread respect from the industry and her diversity and talents have now received accolades in Dance, Pop, Traditional Pop, and Visual Media. Spotify categorized Joanne and ASIB as Country and ranked them as 2 of the top albums of their release years. She was received positive reviews for her amazing, 2-show LV residency that showcases her pop hits along with her Jazz & Piano skillset. BUT, IN THE END, WHO CARES? Why are you here? Why do you love Lady Gaga? Should she live for the acclaim (a-c-c-l-a-i-m-?)? Will you leave if Chromatica scores a.... I can barely say it... *79* on metacritic? Because, apparently, despite all of the above, she has just NEVER released anything with acclaim. Yet, now Stupid Love, the 3rd-highest debut of her career, #5 on the BB Hot 100, received almost unanimously positive reception, and we still can't count that as ACCLAIM? Either live for the art and joy or whatever personal satisfaction Gaga's music gives to you; or, if you love things like accolades and charts and such, which I get, that's fine too. But, we CANNOT have a legitimate conversation about "acclaim" when metacritic is used as the be-all, end-all and we ignore things like Grammy nominations, and make statements like "she has never released a universally acclaimed body of work" in the same thread as "not if it sounds like Stupid Love" when it was UNIVERISALLY ACCLAIMED! It's not that deep. I don't care if Chromatica will be acclaimed or not. I just answered a simple question based on my subjective taste. Not very different from what music critics do. I get what you are saying, but notice this is about the album chromatica. My question was about Gaga getting an acclaim for the album as a body of work, not a singular song. She already got endless acclaim for Shallow (a song).

The point is that pretty much every Gaga album saw acclaim in a form of another and if the entry point to Chromatica (aka the lead single) got a positive review from nearly every critic (even P4K had something nice to say about it) despite fans pretending that the sing is a bomb and impossible to enjoy, what makes you think that the album will be critically panned? Ultimately we don't know, because the album isn't out yet and we have no idea what it will offer us but if we're to make early assumptions, why twist it into something negative when everything points out to critics being into Gaga's return to dance pop and what she has offered so far?
