Why can’t we criticise Stupid Love?

I don’t think you are a hater or a ‘fraudulent’ Gaga fan (WTF?). I think some people around here are oversensitive when it comes to Gaga and can’t be objective when it comes to her work. I totally get what you are saying. We came to expect a really high standard from Gaga in terms of quality of music and videos. We expect her to be transgressive, a visionary and for her to define the pop landscape and to be at the forefront of pop music. We expect her to be the Supreme in the realm of pop, rather than another pop legacy artist. However, with Stupid Love she has delivered a generic song and a cheap looking video. As a fan, I kinda forced myself to like the song and video and I now enjoy it for what it is. Is it revolutionary? Not really! Will it define pop culture? Not really! Will it cement her legacy like Shallow recently did? Not really! I kind of see it as a filler in her career before she hits another peak, whether through another Chromatica single or even another album. Anyway, I really look forward to the album! Best thing to do so that we are not disappointed is to expect an album full of generic pop songs and maybe a couple of killer hits. :awkney:

No artist deserves to have a 'fan' like that.

With all due respect, there’s a difference between sharing constructive criticism and just flat out calling it trash, bashing it, etc. There have been one or two times on this site where I’ve been in the minority who didn’t love a performance, and I simply said “I respect it, I get what she’s going for, it wasn’t for me though, I don’t think the feel of the performance fit the song. Glad lots of people enjoyed it though.” Instead, a lot people tend to just bash what she does. There’s a difference between “this isn’t for me, I get what she’s going for and I’m glad people love it, I just would have preferred ______ personally” and “this is such a mess I don’t get how people like it, I can’t believe her team would really do that because it’s just terrible.” I’m all for people sharing an honest opinion, you’re not doing anyone any good by lying and saying you like something. But that’s not the same as hating on it and spreading negativity, which unfortunately happens a lot on this site. I do absolutely love Stupid Love and its video, but I’d be saying the same if I didn’t.

We’re all entitled to our own opinions :laughga: like no one said you can’t criticize it or anything...what are we 12? :lolly: I disagree lol a top #5 debut and almost 40 million views in a week is not bad at all, you guys are so dramatic and worry about bullshit. You don’t like it? Maybe the next single will be for you lol it’s not that serious

the bundle single get one physical for ten digital single download

all of that for a 52.7k #5 single:ohwell:

1/ It does not have Spotify payola, it was just added to TTH, just like every eventful new release

2/ Same for AM ( and they didn't even pay for it)

3/ The song does NOT have a radio deal AT ALL

4/ The bundle thing is completely FAKE

"We can't criticize Gaga anymore" but that's literally all people do on this site. It's fine to have a different opinion but it's sometimes exhausting how much people hate on everything she does. A bunch of people were saying the same thing about Shallow when it came out. But everyone loves it now that it went number 1 :sharon: if you don't like the song that's fine listen to something you do like. But there's no reason to send hate her way or to try to steal the hype of people who are actually enjoying the era.

You can criticise, that’s your right ,

and I believe it’s a great thing to do.

But as long as you don’t like Lady Gaga’s stuff lately, feel free

to abandon the ship.

I’m pretty sure that especially you,

you  won’t like the next single , you won’t like Chromatica, that’s for sure.

It’s that Lady Gaga loves overproduced tracks ,so what’s the point being negative ,when you already know?

Instead of logging in here, think wise and use your analytical  criticism Professionally and get yourself a job in a magazine or on Tv etc.

I'm glad the song is doing well, but it doesn't do much for me. The lyrical content just isn't there, particularly in the chorus and bridge. Nothing about it surprised me or made me think, which all of my favorite songs from her have done. I suppose the purpose was to have something light and bouncy for the lead, and endear the GP back into a new pop era, and it seems to have worked :)

It debuted high only in UK and US tho... it's far from being called "massive hit" :duck:

#7 in Canada, Czech and Australia, #1 in Scotland, #6 in Ireland and Switzerland, #8 in Israel, #9 in Lithuania.

Total 10 debuts in top 10. It's not only UK and US. :ohwell:

I AM THEATRE

Finally someone who said the truth. :triggered:Everytime I expressed my complete disappointment about this song admins closed my threads. It's absolutely disgusting. Can we feel f****g free enough to share our opinions without being necessarily judged for it or shutted up? This is a forum, guys. A FORUM. It is made to do conversation, to write what we want (of course without being rude or disrispectful)! Or do you pretend us to always be happy or gay-ish for every damn thing Gaga does, only writing  things like "OMG I LUUUV THIS SOOOONG" or "ITS A BOOOOP"? IT JUST ISN'T. Let's be real. This song is nothing if compared to "Poker Face", "Paparazzi" or "Bad Romance". IT'S SO DAMN BASIC. AND IT WON'T HAVE MUCH SUCCESS. It is already falling on the charts, and I hope this will make her understand what is the point. :saladga:

By the way I love Gaga, even if I hate this song.

As for the video wtf? Choreography is incredible, it’s non stop high energy with beautiful, vibrant visuals. I think it’s among her best

I can't believe it. This choreo is a hot mess, disoriented and a copy of her recent choreos.

The video is not good. It's a fact. You can like it, you can enjoy it, but it's far from her old stuff, far from a Perfectly shot piece of art, it's one of her worsts. It's not even basic, a B list singer can release a more aesthetician music video.

Some people just can't deal with the fact that their opinions aren't sacred and when people don't give the attention they wanted when they say the song is basic or cheap, they lose their **** amd start calling it trash and other worse names and, of course, calling the artist egocentric for not releasing something that fulfils their biased expectations. In fact, the egocentric here is not Gaga, she humbled herself a lot these past years even after winning an Oscar.

Sometimes I think Gaga made herself so close to her fans, so human, that some of them really believe they could do better than her. But, she is the one who has a career, who fought for it and has the talent to stay relevant for 12 years.

Let's chill and enjoy the era for what it is. It is good so far and I think it will get much better once we have more than 12 new songs to listen to.
