Teenage Dream's singles are an exception to the rule. It's not every day that people have a string of hit songs like that, so you can't use it to make future predictions.

Singles do help sell albums, but they have to be the right type of singles. There the single that makes the listeners want to spent 1.29 on the song, and the single that sells a 15 dollar albums.

For instance, Die Young and C'mon are major radio hits, but Warrior has only sold 200k worldwide.

People on this board criticize Born This Way's single choices so much, but excluding Judas, they were the type of singles that shifted albums. I'm sure a lot of people got interested in the album after they heard Born This Way and The Edge of Glory. You and I brought in an entire new demographic. Risky singles are the ones that sell albums.

lol... Why did you use Die Young and C'mon and we're not discussing generic RADIO hits but those that are COMMERCIAL.

Please read my recent posts. :)

Runway

The fact that We R Who we R and Firework sold more (and Firework a lot more) than Born This Way in the US.

Does anyone have any data/information on Carly Rae Jepsen's "Tonight I'm Getting Over You?" It's apparently already been sent out to radio and I haven't heard it nor see it on the iTunes Top 200... :toofloppy:

CANNOGABANG

Dev is going to sweep the charts in 2013 with her re-entry to top 40

Ah DEV, the girl that could become but she didn't. She could have ride In The Dark's wave but noo, she chooses to **** things up.

Let's just stop the Judas-TeoG discussion for forever. It's not going anywhere, it always comes down to Interscope messing things up and Gaga/L. Gibson making the situation a little bit worse.

And anyways, the fact that Gaga's succes in the countries that are the future for music (Brazil, for example) has only become higher is something great (only single that didn't manage to get a #1 from BTW was Judas which got to #2, though I don't know whether the chart is official).

Born This Way still loses at Firework by 500K/1M.

BTW: 8.2M by October 2011. (It's safe to say that it's around 8.5M to 9M)

I can't find any We R Who We R WW sales but judging by certifications it's about 5M/6M.

But when it comes to Firework, the song is around 9/10M according to ATRL.

Firework was Katy's Just Dance in therms of WW sales.

Still Poker Face and Bad Romance >>>> any song by other modern pop stars.

Tik Tok

More recent sources tell 14M for Poker Face which is the same as Tik Tok.

And because everyone thought that it was super weird.

I mean the music video for born this way is... weird. Imo it killed the momentum of the song.
