Harlem Shake is #1 on iTunes again :lmao:

I can't believe it went from #5 to #1 again.

Gangham Style was on regular rotation on Canadian radio, but I haven't heard HS once.

Even though I listen to some dance-oriented stations. Thrift Shop and Scream & Shout have been dominating listener voted countdowns for weeks.

maybe coz HS is only massive in the US?

btw, out-of-topic but how does Canadian hot 100 ranks their top songs? I mean do they also include radio audience impression aside from digital songs? Because I remember Stay was number in in Canadian Itunes the last whole week but it didn't debut at number 1.

like what they already said, it's benefiting from week-end boost.

Oh my, Harlem Shake is #1 again? That song needs to go away already :wtf:

I know it's a cultural hit and everything, but I fail to understand how can anyone take it seriously.

Billboard does the Can Hot 100 but likely doesn't have the same streaming data to include.

Harlem Shake moved from #10 to #6 here, which seems indicative of it's sales:

So is a song that had massive radio and 10 weeks at #1 but only selling 4.5 million. WFL should be at 6.5m with that kind of success but :dies:

That just proves that Rihanna isn't as much of a strong digital sales force as people make her out to be. Don't get me wrong, 4.5 million is impressive, but not for a song that spent ten weeks at the top spot and got so much radio airplay. I uderstand sales are low that time of year, but still, it should be at least at 5-5.5 million. And this is her top selling single. The only reason people give her so much credit when it comes to digital sales is because she has so many damn hit songs.

I predict 1.5-2M in the US and 4-6M WW for ARTPOP. Not setting my expectations too high. But I really want her to have the best selling album of the year again so I hope there's not much competition. I honestly think Beyonce might be able to outsell Gaga in the US.

Obviously Britney, Rihanna, and Katy aren't much competition to Gaga when it comes to album sales. I hope Britney gets a Target deal. She's under RCA now and both P!nk and JT have a Target deal (and they are both in the same label). Not to mention, Beyonce had one with 4 as well. P!nk and Beyonce went Platinum and JT probably will too. So I hope a Target deal can aid Britney to get those 1M.

I also think, as far as singles are concerned, ARTPOP will get 3 Top 10's. And maybe another Top 20 single.

I feel like many artists are waiting to see what Gaga is going to do and what her release date will be. I get the feeling Beyonce may be doing that.

I see. That's why Riri didn't debuted at number 1.

But I wonder if they will also include YT views in the future.

It's near impossible though.

Based on what I've read, it seems that Gaga will release more commercial songs. So at least ARTPOP might outsell BTW or even TF (and I'm not in a delusion).

More commercial songs does not necessarily lead to greater album sales. It may help singles sell better though. Take, for example, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. Most of its songs were geared towards pop radio, and were much more 'commercial'. However, the sales of the album did not exceed those of Pink Friday, an album with less 'commercial' songs.

That's the thing: Beyonce and Gaga, when they do commercial music, or music that they think is commercial, it still ends up being relatively risky to release. I honestly don't think either Gaga or Beyonce will ever again go flat-out commercial.

And singles, as commercial as they are, don't sell albums anymore. PROMOTION sells albums. I'm surprised FF sold what it did with only 2 promotional performances in the US. People always say that Britney stans cling to the promotion excuse to justify FF's sales, but that IS a valid reason for the album underperforming more so than the excuse Beyonce stans use (lack of singles success).

So, quite frankly, since they both will most likely find themselves in similar situations (releasing more commercial music IN COMPARISON to the singles from their previous records, but still relatively risky in comparison to what is popular at the moment). And I predict that Beyonce will outsell Gaga. Especially now with her injury and all, Gaga might just promote less.

I will have that in mind :creepflop:
