So the real question at hand here is how much will this new Billboard chart rule with YouTube affect Gaga? Will we beat BTW's 6 weeks at #1?

itunes update:

TS will take over HS soon!!

1. Baauer - Harlem Shake 1.0000

2. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - Thrift Shop (feat. Wanz) 0.9375

3. Bruno Mars - When I Was Your Man 0.8125

4. Rihanna - Stay (feat. Mikky Ekko) 0.6562

TS is up to 0.9688 now. I wonder if there is a record for how many times a track can recover its #1

Thrift Shop has seen off challenges by Suit & Tie and Stay, and HS witl be its third victim.

I predict HS to achieve the fastest ever exit from the Hot 100 after being #1.

As we've been saying, people liked the videos, but couldn't give two ****s about the song itself.

Gaga would have to have massive views. Which will not happen

Well if the song is as popular as BTW was, the YouTube views can only help!

Glad Begin Again finally tops country songs.

1. (+1) TAYLOR SWIFT Begin Again (Spins 6441 +167 |AI 50.347 +0.965)

my most favorite song from red is slaying the country songs.

didn't expect it'll be that easily forgettable.

If the rule lasts...

It'll be harder to get many weeks at #1 because the next song to come along with downloads + Youtube views together, will over-run a song trying to hang on with airplay as it used to.

Yeah so there are definitley some disadvantages to it.. Like Gangnam Style would have been #1 for an eternity haha

Wouldn't Gaga's release pattern help her get more weeks at number 1?

Radio deal at release with audio video then music video 2-3 week later. Her YouTube views could hold out very well if she times things correctly.

I doubt it. The new rule benefits Gaga in the short term because her videos always generate massive buzz when they are first released. They tend to be very front loaded, however, and won't provide a long chart life.

In general, yes. In Born This Way's case, no. If you remember way back in 2011, Friday became popular during Born This Way's chart run.

The song still would have went number one, but Friday would have blocked it for a couple weeks, shortening it's reign.

True. Didn't think about all this honestly.
