Jake 0
Umm, that is still not relatable...it is kid-friendly, bubblegum, easy to understand, but 12 year olds are still not going to relate to those lyrics. Taylor can sell all the albums and singles she wants to, but she's hugely sacrificing her songwriting and musical integrity for it. This 22 **** is making her look more like Katy and less like Taylor, who was once a unique artist. It's sad how generic she's become. But I guess that's what happens when you continue to act and write the exact same way you did 5 years ago. So no one can relate to a song about living large and feeling free and happy? Sometimes a songs lyrics are effective if they simply serve their purpose and say things people identify with. Just because a song doesn't explore deep themes doesn't make it trash. Taylor Swift's and Katy Perry's lyrics and music make people feel happy. There's nothing wrong with enjoying a record like that.
Ozzy8923 9
Does a song really need to be relatable to smash? I've never been to a club before and a lot of the songs I love involve clubbing, or at least mention it. Just like white boys worship rap when they ain't gettin' no b---hes or stackin' dem dolla bills. :wtfga:

I've never been to a club before and a lot of the songs I love involve clubbing, or at least mention it. Just like white boys worship rap when they ain't gettin' no b---hes or stackin' dem dolla bills. Well that idea explores the second main reason why I think people listen to music. I think the three main ones are: 1) Personal connection: They relate the song to their life. They hear the song lyrics and think "Oh, I've been there!" 2) Inspires Fantasy: They relate the song to their dreams. Ex: Most guys listen to rap because they have the fantasy of being that really cool guy that picks up lots of girls. Or in pop's case, Katy Perry paints a teenage dreamland that is always happy. People dream of being happy listening to her. 3) Curiosity: The artist brings an interesting perspective and covers musical ground that they haven't seen before. People can relate to the feeling of clubbing/partying or getting chicks and money. Those are things they want. Ain't nobody relating to Marrying the night or raising their hands like Jesus said tho :laughga:

_Lam 597
I wonder how much the tour helped Born This Way's total worldwide sales? Well for sure it solidified the album status as a turning point in Gaga career. If Gaga would have stop promoting BTW with MTN and no tour, I pretty sure BTW wouldn't be so memorable to everyone. The fact the era/theme/message last so long contrast with somes small chart underperformance of the album, making it, in overall, a pretty huge ass success worldwide ! I think if you ask everyone a Gaga song, they will come up with Poker Face or Bad Romance. But if you ask them about a Gaga album, if pretty sure Born This Way is what will come up to their mind. BTW was promoted the way it should have been, as an album !
Arturo 40,746
I wonder how much the tour helped Born This Way's total worldwide sales? Well it made it go from 3x Platinum to 4x Platinum (320,000) in Canada If BTW was at 6.8M at the end of 2011, I'm sure it's like at 7.5 now. Just a guesstimate

Just a guesstimate 7.5 is very good for a "flop" album. You don't see many pop singer albums selling close to 7.5 million worldwide anymore.
nick4bty 2,758
Feel This Moment is good. Much better than that annoying **** excuse of a song Don't Stop the Party. Plus Legend-X actually sounds good in it (off topic, but I don't understand how she can sound like **** on most of her own album and so good on this track). So I'm hoping it smashes. Ozzy8923 9
I still don't think it crossed 7M WW. The tour came too late into the album's chart performance (one year after it was released) to really guarantee considerable sales, at least not to 7.5M. But it's sales are still VERY impressive for ANY pop album now. The only people who have been able to sell as much are Eminem, Adele, and Coldplay. Bruno might see #'s close to that and 1D are having solid sales as well so you can add them too. But Rihanna, Katy, Britney, Ke$ha, Madonna ain't doin' it. Feel This Moment is good. Much better than that annoying **** excuse of a song Don't Stop the Party. Plus Legend-X actually sounds good in it (off topic, but I don't understand how she can sound like **** on most of her own album and so good on this track). So I'm hoping it smashes. Agreed. Her voice sounds majestic. C'mon Legend X needs a hit before she fades into irrelevancy for good. :emma:
