Watch out for Thrift Shop. It's at 3.5M WW right now and it's not losing it's massive sales.

I expect at least 7M WW by the end of the year.

^I'm surprised any Katy songs aren't there.

and gaga could never... I hope she can have more chart longevity on her next album esp. now that the BB formula has changed.

Just Dance spent 49 weeks. Not that far away.

Can't wait for 10million sales :legend: I know I'm delusional but maybe year or few and it will be certified for selling 10million units :legend: :emo:

Yeah it would be great. Except that it's pretty hard to get certified WW sales and also hard to get a reliable source. :confuse:

Because itunes only gives relative sales figures, the figures for the week can all be out by the same proportion (typically up to 20%)

Approx this week's sales for Gaga: PF 5.4 K, BTW 4.5K; BR 4.4K; JD 4.4K; TEOG 4.2K; Y+I 3.8K.

Great news for Gotye fans, his GRAMMY-winning worldwide smash hit, Somebody That I Used To Know is now among the 10 longest-charting hits in the history of the HOT 100 chart as it extends its reign to 59 weeks.

Weeks, Title, Artist, Peak Year, Peak Position

76, "I'm Yours," Jason Mraz, 2008, No. 6

69, "How Do I Live," LeAnn Rimes, 1997, No. 2

68, "Party Rock Anthem," LMFAO featuring Lauren Bennett & GoonRock, 2011, No. 1 (six weeks)

65, "Rolling in the Deep," Adele, 2011, No. 1 (seven weeks)

65, "You Were Meant For Me"/"Foolish Games," Jewel, 1997, No. 2

64, "Before He Cheats," Carrie Underwood, 2007, No. 8

62, "You and Me," Lifehouse, 2005, No. 5

60, "Need You Now," Lady Antebellum, 2010, No. 2

60, "Macarena (Bayside Boys Mix)," Los Del Rio, 1996, No. 1 (14 weeks)

59, "Somebody That I Used to Know," Gotye featuring Kimbra, 2012, No. 1 (eight weeks)

I'm shocked I'm Yours peaked at #6. That song was everywhere.

It's also interesting to see PRA and Macarena since the rest of the list are basically AC staples.

Watch out for Thrift Shop. It's at 3.5M WW right now and it's not losing it's massive sales.

I expect at least 7M WW by the end of the year.

:worship:

nope. 49 weeks is still far from 59 weeks. The difference is almost 2 and a half months.

Pure Adrenaline

that is one of the reasons why I like the new rule. A song in a video gaining 100M views in just a week really deserves recognition. That is a a very rare event and even gaga can't pull those views.

but there isn't any official video yet.....ooh Jesus these 100M are from these 30 sec clips that everyone is making they aren't even including the whole song :fail:

This. They should give streaming points only for the videos that include the entire song.

that is the point, it's amazing that it got that views just from parodies. HS is just that viral and no one or nothing is to blame except for the people who created the internet or the internet itself.

it's not like that it is only exclusive for HS. All song can have it, fair and square.

Yep, that's what I meant. If there weren't this 30 second parodies of the song, it wouldn't have those views. + I don't think it's really fair to say HS had 103 million views in just one week. If it's own video (don't know if it exists) had this numbers - it would be fair to say so. Given the facts, I wouldn't count it as 103 million views in it's first week. And isn't it like one year old? Why did BB say it's it debut? LOL

It has an audio video but don't have an official video and I doubt BB included parodies with official audio on the new formula just for the sake of HS debuting at number 1. Like what they said, they already talk about this formula 2 years ago so we don't know what they had argued with before releasing this new formula and we don't have the right to judge them anyway.

Using that logic, whenever I preview a 30 second song snippet on iTunes, that should also count towards it's chart position. Whenever a talk show plays a song snippet (which they often do), that should count towards several million AI because of all of the people watching their show.

There is even a rule that a song must be played at least 90 seconds on the radio to count.

So basically, 30 second snippets don't count on TV, on the radio, on iTunes, and on streaming services like spotify. There is no reason why youtube should be the only exception.

Additionally, the entire point of Billboard's chart is to inform music industry professionals where the money is at. There is little to no money in streaming, so while I do believe that it should be included, it's currently weighted way too much.

The chart isn't really supposed to show what's popular, it's an informant for professionals as to what's currently making money. 30 second clips of people dancing have minimal revenue attached to it.

it's not weighted too much in fact streaming has the least proportion among the rest of the criteria. plus, why are you comparing itunes preview, 90 sec. rules in radios, etc. to youtube views where in fact these are all different things (except that they're all part of the formula)? Each criteria has its own percentage, rules and restriction so we can't compare them like that. We can't compare Lana to Madonna just because both are singers, I mean it's illogical if we do so.

Like what I've said already, they had thought of this thing for a long time already. And it's too early to judge their formula because it was just implemented this week only. If something done is wrong then they'll probably fix it in the future.
