CoolTrainerTerry 1,489
Supposedly Eminem has new music coming "very, very soon." From the Taylor Swift article: "I'm not a fit thrower. If something is done, it's done," she told the magazine. Guess she prefers to simply throw jabs at awards shows and incorporate burns into her music videos...right? :toofunny:
Mills 446
According to Billboard, Eminem's new album is due post-memorial day. A June release would be most likely then. And if his album is slated to release by that time, we'd probably be getting a lead single by April/May at the latest. I'm expecting a huge opening week sales for him, both for the lead single and for his eight studio album which would further push his incredible worldwide album sales even further. He's basically the best-selling hip-hop artist of all time and is still among the biggest forces in the industry known for delivering huge numbers. Hence, I'm looking forward to his new material. Anyway, still more than pleased that Stay is doing very well in iTunes thanks to the GRAMMY performance and the unexpected video, to say the least. But Thrift Shop's quickly climbing back to the top as well. And it seems it would stay atop the HOT 100 chart, undisturbed for quite some time. It's also great to see that both Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars having two songs each within the top 10 of iTunes. The Power of the GRAMMYs is undeniable. Ozzy8923 9
Crap, Eminem releasing in June, which is potential Gaga releasing time. :taylor: Not here for being overshadowed by rap artists. I WANT THAT #1 BEST-SELLING ALBUM THIS YEAR.

I WANT THAT #1 BEST-SELLING ALBUM THIS YEAR. It'd be 2010 all over again... I'd want too for ARTPOP to become the top best-selling album of the year, both in the US and worldwide, given that serious threats such as Adele would most likely not releasing an album this year. It seems it'd be Gaga and Eminem who'd be battling for the top spot this year. Then there are also the likes of Katy Perry, Beyonce, and Britney Spears along the way with their major releases. I wonder who'd be named Billboard's Artist of the Year with huge competition all throughout the year. I also took notice that Lady Antebellum would also release a new album this year. They're quite huge sellers of albums in the US, and the award-giving bodies seemed to love them too, based on their previous albums.
Tommymonster44 0
Anyone notice that Rihanna fans have a distinct buying pattern? They never give her a jackrabbit start when a song is released (Diamonds trailed We are Young a long time), but once a single is surging into top 10 they pile on and push it to the top. Lot of indie rockers and Timberlake had a bigger initial boost from the Grammies - from people watching the show. But now the Navy is jumping in and supporting the single. The problem is, while Rihanna these days may surge for a few weeks, I doubt if it will last until this song is big on radio. Likely a decent top 10 hit, but not top 3. I don't really agree with this pattern. Her stuff like We Found Love and Only Girl shot straight up the charts. It's just that this particular era has had a lot of slower songs which naturally take a while to gain traction in today's age of party music. I'm also a little worried about if this will remain steadily in the top 5 of iTunes. As for radio, it seems to be supporting it. It's gotten very solid updates since it was added. Again, not the type of song to fly straight to number one. It'll gain more gradually (by Rihanna's standards). We'll just have to wait and see how far it'll go. Jase 13,400
Thrift Shop back to #02, I can see it climbing back to #01 by the weekend
Mills 446
I somewhat agree with Craig with regard to the buying pattern. Rihanna never debuted a song straight to #1 in the charts. Only Girl basically only hit #1 after the 2nd single, What's My Name with Drake became a HOT 100 chart leader. And I remember it was arguably due to some sales promotional tactics in iTunes back then. On the other hand, it took 6 weeks for WFL to hit #1, that's more than a month. And it's sort of a slow climber, considering it's a lead single, compared to the quick rise to the top of the charts of the lead singles of her contemporaries. California Gurls only took two weeks to hit #1, BTW took three days of availability in the digital outlets to debut at #1. Part Of Me also debuted at #1. I guess I do agree with you guys, my perspective on her sales pattern is just different. Compared to the other pop girls, she is a slow climber. But she still picks up steam rather quickly compared to other artists. The radio has always supported her since Loud (excluding certain smaller singles) and people tend to buy her material. If I remember correctly, WFL went to the top of iTunes the day it was released. It just took sometime to get all major musical platforms (iTunes weekly totals, radio, videos, promotions) on board the #1 train before it created some impact. So I guess what I'm saying is that she appears to climb more slowly than she actually does because her rise doesn't always coincide equally on all platforms. But she's definitely is a lot slower than her pop contemporaries.

Mills 446
And 3, HIAM, and Womanizer. Of course, Britney Spears. She's among the biggest opening week sellers, and with S&S, she also further proved longevity.
chris777 112
No.1 Debuts usually don't have longevity. I don't like that. I would like that Gaga has a single climbing in the charts and eventually go No. 1 , I don't understand why fans want a No. 1 debut
Ozzy8923 9
I agree. I must admit that I enjoyed seeing S&S climb up the Hot 100 vs. seeing it plummet continually downwards. #1 debut or not it still sold just as much as her last 2 #1's so I'm not too concerned about it. Sales >>>> peak position. If Britney's next single can manage Double Platinum without even reaching #1, I would be happy with that. And I'd be even happier if it managed 3X Platinum. S&S video preview: Jean, sis, you are SERVING with that Blond Ambition pony tail and that outfit.
