Katy Perry is very lucky for that. I wonder if Billboard waited for her to release that single before changing the rules. Agreed, it seemed no matter how huge one's digital sales in its first week, if it has already gained airplay within the week, then it'd most likely debut at a lower position. I think that happened to WANEGBT. Have it been released on a Wednesday, then it would surely debut at #1. Wouldn't the best thing to do be to release the single digitally to iTunes on Monday and wait to have its radio debut on Wednesday? Like have radio deals and everything lined up for Wednesday and just not give the song to radio until Wednesday? Then she could get 7 days of airplay and 7 days of sales. Or is that not possible?
