Britney has had WW hits just none have been of the magnitude of S&S. That doesn't mean that she's lived off of her name alone. In The Zone has 3 WW 1's (without the support of the US, considering the lead single peaked at #35 and had little to no radio support, peaking at #11 on Pop) and 8M WW. Then, Blackout just survived because Gimme More and Piece of Me sold well in the US (1.7M both, also without any radio support and did exceptional WW). And Circus has 2 of her biggest digital hits and 1.7M sold in the US and 4M WW. Not bad. Then, even with Femme Fatale and it's lackluster sales, she managed her third biggest digital hit and her two biggest radio hits too. So, YES, Scream & Shout is bigger than all of her singles from the 2000's. But, look at someone like Cher, who got her biggest hit at age 52. FIFTY TWO. Britney will be fine. I for one am glad to see her finally topping herself and her other singles. It's about damn time.

IKYWT was released around mid-Dec yes? You and I had a 4 month period too.

yeah but we forgot the fact that trough April to May we got 1 promo and 2 single and two months before was the lead single which if we calculate it = for 3 months period we had 4 single where 3 of them were official and heavily promoted

if we compare TFM to BTW era's will see that for the time TFM era lasted in the BTW era .....where TFM had longevity with proper promotion and BTW was rushed with lack of longevity and it was heavily promoted

It's much more fun to have hizophrenia... u never get lonely

Radio

10. MAROON 5 – One More Night: 99.155 (- 1.058)

Itunes

40. One More Night - Maroon 5

uh. radio deal is not working. few people are buying it on itunes

What are you even talking about? The song was in the Top 10 for ages. It's on the decline - after, you know, spending 9 weeks at #1?

I agree with the concept, but Cher isn't the best example. Because let's be real, Britney's s-x appeal is a huge part of her. It's unlikely that she will get big hits when she's older because she won't be young and attractive anymore. Cher's career never really thrived off of s-x so growing old didn't affect her career.

I agree. I realize that by the time Britney hits 40, she's out. As much as I love her, I know that's the truth. And I don't think Britney would mind it very much either. By then she'll have about 20 yrs. in the industry under her belt, and can retire in peace. The only way I can see her lasting beyond 40, is if she makes a radical change in image and creates more mature, adult music. But I don't really see that happening at all. Britney thrives off the support of a teenage/young audience and always has. She never has and never will appeal to adults, and I know that will come back to haunt her.

Hey Ozzy, I saw a lot of posts in here claiming that Britney was "banned" from radio for a very long time until Circus came out. I didn't know she was banned, and I'm wondering why? It's not like she burnt crosses in her videos or something.

She can always try with something more rock/pop-ish, a la I Love Rock and Roll. She has a pretty strong fanbase, so as long as they support her, I guess that's fine. That's a huge advantage for Gaga. She can always go back to her rock/jazz/indie/pop roots and appeal to a mature audience.

WOW Stop please. How she is topping herself when this is not her song OMG You are all so annoying praising Britney for S&S when it is Will' song ! And the song is nothing special... Does someone praise Beyonce for Telephone ? No. Do you know why ? Because it is Gaga's song. And yes beyonce compared to britneys line that she says 3 or 4 times in Will's song, beyonce's part on telephone is pretty big and it still doesn't count as Beyonce's song (May count as her top 5 but not as her success)

Srry if this sounds rude :kisses:

Yes. It was a ban on a ClearChannel stations from 2001 to 2004 (it was taken away right before Toxic came out, hence why it became her first #1 on Pop in 3 years). It was a ban simply done because Britney chose a different promoter for her tour, in other words, one that wasn't ClearChannel (who has been the promoters of her two previous shows). :laughga: She chose the other tour promoter because they were helping to promote Crossroads (a movie she starred in around the same time) and the single that was released to coincide with the movie I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman. They were pissed off, so they banned her from radio until she sued them and the court declared it illegal and radio started to play her again. Might I add that, at the time, ClearChannel own over 100 of the less than 140 pop stations at the time. :rip: There was basically NO WAY she could of gotten enough airplay to do well on the charts.

It's OK. Everyone has their opinion. :laughga: But, I do give Britney credit where it's due. Gaga was the HBIC in 2010. Bigger than Beyonce, Katy, Rihanna, and Britney. She shat on lives. She didn't NEED Beyonce in her song. Period. Funny enough, Telephone has outsold every single Beyonce song. However, in will.i.am's case he was a FLOP solo artist. He promoted his song on the AMA's and it didn't even chart on the Hot 100 (with J.Lo featured on it!). But when Jean comes along, BAM it skyrockets into the Top 10 WW and on iTunes. She played the role of getting the song out there and initial hype was ALL Britney. The longevity of the song itself, I wouldn't attribute to Britney alone, but the initial success was really all her. Hell, when I first heard it on the radio, they said it was Britney Spears ft. will.i.am. :rip: The GP, for all I know, might think it's her song and not will.i.am's.

Enough about Jean...

These b---hes are about to top the Pop Songs chart!!
