So was I. And I was so crushed when they broke up lol

It was tragic for every teeny-bopper at the time.

The only difference is that Rihanna actually releases brand new material each year. Bieber just rehashes stuff that's already been made.

Exactly. And it quite puzzles me that Bieber can send an album straight to #1 every year and Rihanna cannot. His fanbase does give very strong opening week sales for him, which is highly commendable.

I believe it's because Justin Bieber's fanbase is passionate. If a person doesn't truly feel passionate about an artist and their music, they will just download it illegally.

This idea can be supported by the fact that Rihanna's albums are downloaded illegally in such vast quantities. Obviously, all pop artists suffer from this problem, but Rihanna shifts a lot more albums illegally than Bieber.

PSY’s “Gangnam Style†also tops the 4 million mark in digital sales. It’s the third comic/novelty song to reach this mark, following LMFAO’s “Sexy And I Know It†(5,975,000) and Cee-Lo’s aforementioned “F**k You!†(5,958,000). “Gangnam Style†logged seven weeks at #2 last fall. It was stuck behind Maroon 5’s “One More Night,†which, while a huge seller, has yet to reach 4 million. (It’s up to 3,749,000.)

:deadbanana:

Raise You Glass - P!nk topped the 4m as well

"Somebody That I Used To Know" by Gotye feat. Kimbra tops the 7 million mark in paid downloads becoming just the 4th song to accomplish this.

 for Gotye's Somebody That I Used To Know. Well deserved. If only Making Mirrors moved millions of albums, they'd still be slaying the charts.

Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody†tops the 4 million mark. This is the band’s best-seller. It reached #4 in September 2009.

One Direction's What Makes You Beautiful also topped the 4 million mark this week. And congratulations to Taylor Swift too as IKYWT topped the 3 million mark, her fifth single to do so.

I swear that I never got the interest for STIUTK. It's such a boring song, even for indie standards. But anyway, I'm not saying that it's a bad song, just not half as interesting as Rolling in The Deep, We Are Young or even Pumped Up Kicks.
