Tommymonster44 0
but did Teenage Dream got a large sales boosts and outsold BTW in the US because of its singles success? Teenage Dream's singles are an exception to the rule. It's not every day that people have a string of hit songs like that, so you can't use it to make future predictions. Singles do help sell albums, but they have to be the right type of singles. There the single that makes the listeners want to spent 1.29 on the song, and the single that sells a 15 dollar albums. For instance, Die Young and C'mon are major radio hits, but Warrior has only sold 200k worldwide. People on this board criticize Born This Way's single choices so much, but excluding Judas, they were the type of singles that shifted albums. I'm sure a lot of people got interested in the album after they heard Born This Way and The Edge of Glory. You and I brought in an entire new demographic. Risky singles are the ones that sell albums. chris777 112
I miss Gaga in the charts right now. The b*tch hasnt even talk about the date of the lead single :messga:
VforVendetta 2,024
Well, after the infamously controversial music video for Alejandro and the meat dress, I have to admit that I was surprised with BTW's chart performance Then Judas came and everything got so dark. God... TEOG had everything pretty difficult. Actually if Gaga hadn't released TEOG as a promotional single Judas would have performed much better and TEOG would have been released directly as a single. But when Gaga released TEOG as a promo single it stole all the spotlight from the already struggling Judas that sank.

It was around 30 on iTunes before TEOG was even released. TEOG just put the song out of it's misery. It's only successful week was it's debut. Mariano 958
IF judas was released Monday, and TEOG wasn't released right after Judas... everything would have been different

But when Gaga released TEOG as a promo single it stole all the spotlight from the already struggling Judas that sank. I love Judas, but it wasn't a good choice for a second single. Radio stations didn't want to play it, the video and song were really controversial, Gaga was still receiving Madonna comparisons... Judas did pretty well for being such a polarizing single, so I don't think it would've changed things if she hadn't released TEOG as a promo single. It's only successful week was it's debut. It doesn't matter. The song didn't complete it's course and it didn't give it's full potential. Judas had the potential to rise again, it is a certain hit single, I still can't believe that this song flopped. And I also forgot to mention that Judas leaked! If was released on monday the song would have charted much higher and it would have also given very better impressions!
chris777 112
What Judas needed is have another name like Fernando or Antonio and it would have slayed.

Judas did pretty well for being such a polarizing single, so I don't think it would've changed things if she hadn't released TEOG as a promo single. I do actually. I agree that it wasn't a good second single and especially in that timing, after Alejandro and BTW and this is also a reason that it flopped, thanks for mentioning it. But the song would have charted much better! gENERALLY btw Era was full of mistakes and bad luck, it's like someone wanted very much to ruin it. The Judas leak, TEOG video,, TEOG promotional single, 0.99 cents deal. Everything would have been very different of all these things didn;t happen, I truly believe it. Especially the 0.99 cents deal destroyed album's ''name''.

They will sell the most the first week and have the most radio gains during that time. Then they will slowly taper off. I go back to what I already said: Judas first week was it's best. It sold the most on iTunes and gained the most on the radio during this time. A monday release would have allowed it to snag an 8 or 9 on Billboard, but that isn't significant. Judas just wasn't the proper second single choice. It's sales can speak for that. Edit: And the 99 cents deal on Amazon didn't destroy the album reputability. Nobody outside of the inner musical community even knows that it happened.

I just love this song so much and it deserved and in my opinion could have done much better. But ARTPOP is coming soon so let's forget it! :music:
Magoo 6
Approximately % of Gaga's US single sales (except promotional singles): TF 48,4% (had 4 singles); TFM 27% (had 3 singles); BTW 24,6% (had 5 singles). Damn. The Fame was so huge in the US. It's amazing. Of course the older albums have the advantage of being around longer to sell. If you look at the current rate of sales you see a very different distribution (from the 6 tracks in the itunes top 1500) TF 36.4% (PF, JD) TFM 16.9% (BR) BTW 46.7% (BTW, TEOG, Y+I) BTW don't look so bad now. Well it's logical that BTW at the moment is selling more, but still TF had/has great longevity so far. 36.4% coming from two singles from an album released in 2008.
