Deacon 5
Hurricanes Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have swept through the Billboard Hot 100, and there's not a weave to be found int the rubble. :tea:
craig 680
If that's the case then they should stop calling themselves "singers" if it's not about the vocals, regardless the topic they're singing about. Although people make a cult of personality around singers, vocals (beyond basic competence) are only a part of what I enjoy in music. There is the production and lyrics (for recorded songs) and theatrics and stage presence (for live shows). Average singers will often please me more if they go the extra mile in these areas, while melismaniacs who just want to show off their vocals annoy me. Music is NOT a technical singing competition. Ozzy8923 9
I hope its not some crap r&b track And that's probably what it will end up being. Beyonce prides herself in not working with typical pop producers or making standard pop music, and we can already deduce that it will not be a ballad. So I expect some traces of R&B in this new song and to me that spells disaster. Or at least a song that isn't strictly commercial. Frankly, this would be one occasion where it would be wise to put musical innovation aside and guarantee a smash lead single. Let's see. Timberlake already ****ed it up with his ****ty track, so Beyonce probably won't be smart either. S&T can gain a few more sales after the video and more airplay but I bet you it won't re-peak. Let's hope it's at least innovative R&B rather than 2004 revisited. Notice Beyonce, Rihanna, and Timberlake all have a connection with Jay-Z - it's like they think they have enough pull in the biz (with radio deals, Superbowl, and Grammies) to force R&B to come back. That's partly why I'm rooting against them.

That's partly why I'm rooting against them. It seems like Beyonce and JT are in talks to bring back R&B to the mainstream (he's apparently featured in one of her songs, possibly the lead single). But judging from JT's R&B, it'll just be a 2004 mess, like usual. So I expect nothing more of Beyonce as well. Shame. All this amazing promotion for what is going to be a terrible R&B song with a few lazy verses for her husband and Jean's ex-boyfriend.
heavymlover 340
I thought it was confirmed that Beyonce's new album had some electronic vibes.
comrade 33
Timberlake ****ed up? Hardly. Not taking the easy EDM route and staying true to his R&B zone couldn't have been any wiser. And it's not like it was a commercial failure. It already hit the charts all over the world. The music video has yet to be released. He hasn't even performed it live yet. S&T will most definitely pave the way for his new album better than well. Beyoncé is Beyoncé and I think it's safe to say that she'll continue with her version of R&B. And she'll be good at it. These are career-defining moments. "4" may not have been a commercial megasmash but the music nerd crowd loved it and it made sure that Beyonce's legacy will live longer than those of produced-to-death EDM songstresses. I'm ready to bet on Beyoncé and Justin to together beat this struggling EDM phase to death.
