How come if a dance-pop artist does 2 or 3 songs that sound similar production-wise its "generic", but Pink can keep sounding the same thisd album and its fine, and nobody calls Rihanna's latest a generic piano ballad.

Different artists have different standards I guess. P!nk does the same thing every album but she is very good at it and her fans never bore of it, otherwise Rihanna releases so much music that when she comes out with a piano song it is a new direction for her standards.

Runway

well, Xtina is legendary and very popular all over the world so she can still have a successful tour as Madonna (even if their both latest album flopped).

If that was true there would've been a Bionic Tour (which was cancelled btw)

Typical RCA... Not doing anything to save the damn the song. this song is a career defining song and they are doing nothing to promote it :fail:

Tha song doesn't need any promo. It's getting tons of airplay.

P!nk follows the same formula over and over, but not the same sound, whereas some dance-pop artists keep using the exact same sound over and over with pretty shallow lyrics. And as someone said before, P!nk is really good at it. Try is much better than most of the songs in the Top 10 imo.

#3 210 + 104 + 92 = 32500 will.i.am ft Britney S&S (+2)

It'll be her ninth Top 3 single! :legend:

Why promote it when the GP clearly has ignored it? I mean 124M AI is A LOT and the song has barely stayed in the Top 10. You shouldn't bother to promote something when radio has provided enough/more exposure than another televised performance watched by a few million people.

"Try" is a great song - the best off of her album IMO.

I'm happy to see how P!nk's career has turned out. A few years back, many considered her "over" after Try This underperformed and then the singles from I'm Not Dead took a long while to take off.

I'm serious, though. There's only so much a label can do. Labels are mainly responsible for promoting the product ONLINE (banners on iTunes, YouTube, FB. Twitter etc) and in stores and other locations, that includes radio promotion as well (commercials promoting the record and payola/radio deals for the singles). The MARKETING of the album/single (promotional spots on award/TV shows) is NOT up to the label but the artists' marketing team. Quite frankly, why invest in an artist who doesn't sell even with the most lucrative promotional spots? Beyonce did tons of promotion for her record and singles and the singles did poorly and the album scrapped Platinum and barely 3M WW. Impressive enough, I suppose, but judging by public reaction to her album/singles, I could understand why her label gave up on her after a few months.

On the other side of the spectrum, we have Katy Perry who sells singles like hot cakes and that's why her label DID invest plenty of money for her ventures because with Katy they knew it would end up being at least remotely successful. You don't have that advantage with older artists like P!nk, Beyonce, Christina, and Britney. All of them are past 30 now and their age is starting to catch up to them (or it will soon) so their labels are more reluctant to take such big monetary risks with them.

:toofunny: I can't at "I Love It" by Icona Pop finally taking off on iTunes. And "Arms" by Christina Perri. MTN might have another chance :derpga:
