craig 680
Actually fun. album has sold 903K in the US alone and peaked at #3 in the US and Gotye's album sold around 700K in the US and peaked at #6 so they were fairly successful in the albums field. Still not in Katy or Rihanna territory. Mumford album did much better without nearly the singles success. 2012 failed to launch any new Gaga-Taylor-Katy-Rihanna-Adele. craig 680
Any word on a Gotye tour? I imagine it would be awkward with one hit the public knows, and even that requiring Kimbra to perform properly.
Mills 446
The music video of Thrift Shop reminds me of LMFAO for some reason. I guess, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, if given with a full-blown marketing and push from their label, they could be the new LMFAO in terms of having a string of hits thanks to a monster hit. :toofunny:

LMFAO only had 2 hit, but both big. There might be a successor to Thrift Shop waiting to smash, as a second song is already #1 in Australia. It likely will be as big as Some Nights was for Fun: http://kworb.net/popau/ PS: Wow, the 2nd song is actually a gay equality anthem.

I've mistaken them to have a third #1 hit. Guess, I've the Black Eyed Peas at the back of my mind since their music sounds too identical. And speaking of the BEP, that other song of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, titled Same Love, reminds me of Where Is The Love? in some way, with a bolder statement. Anyway, speaking of love, I'm still way in love with Sweet Nothing by Calvin Harris. That song deserves more success than it actually gets. The production, the lyrics... all sounds just perfect. It's arguably the shining light of EDM. And if the songs from ARTPOP would be as good as this, or even better, then I'm all in for an all-out EDM for ARTPOP. craig 680
Anyway, speaking of love, I'm still way in love with Sweet Nothing by Calvin Harris. The secret is combining a singer-songwriter of some substance with the EDM. Calvin + Florence. Guetta + Sia. Maybe Zedd + Gaga.

Mills 446
Music Icon Prince will be honored at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards on the 19th of May. Well, that's great news for his fans. The 2013 Billboard Music Awards are returning to Las Vegas on Sunday, May 19 and will honor the legendary artist Prince during a live ABC broadcast from the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Prince will be honored with the Billboard Icon Award and is set to deliver what will likely be an unforgettable performance during the broadcast, produced by Don Mischer and sponsored by Chevrolet and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. The "Purple Rain" singer-songwriter-musician follows the 2012 Icon recipient, Stevie Wonder, who received a multi-tiered tribute led by Alicia Keys. Also at last year's event, Adele dominated with twelve awards, including Top Artist , Pop Artist and Female Artist, while LMFAO followed with six nods, including for Hot 100 Song of the Year ("Party Rock Anthem"). The show featured over 15 live performances from some of the biggest names in music, including Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Usher and Justin Bieber. The star-studded telecast resulted in a ratings win for ABC, attracting its second-largest audience since 2003 and trumping NBC's season finale of "Celebrity Apprentice" by 27% among all age groups. The awards will reflect Billboard's chart rankings based on key fan interactions with music, including album sales and downloads, track downloads, radio airplay and touring as well as streaming and social interactions on Facebook, Twitter, Vevo, Youtube, Spotify and other popular online destinations for music. These measurements are tracked year-round by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Entertainment and Next Big Sound. The awards will be based on the reporting period of Feb. 27, 2012 through Feb. 24, 2013. Top artists will be recognized in a variety of genres, including R&B, Rap, Pop, Country, Rock, Latin and Alternative. Here's the full article. I'm expecting Adele, Carly Rae Jepsen, Gotye, and the rest who topped the 2012 year-end lists to dominate this awards, as usual. But I'm more interested on who would perform. Can Gaga even take this opportunity to promote ARTPOP, even though she'd most likely get barely any nomination, if none, at all?
Dangerous Man 9,245
Well, we all know that the reason why some Gaga fans don't have anymore patience for ARTPOP is because of the too-early announcements that Gaga made + the hype made by her co-producers. Imo, next time, Gaga should think carefully before making any announcement for it can lead to disappointments and hurts. But I bet Gaga and her label already learned about not being too excited and exaggerated after BTW era, that's why they're moving carefully and didn't even give hints during her live chat. "A little less conversation and a little more touch my body."
WarriorPrince 1
Let's be real, she will not release the single on mid-summer 2013 and the album on late 2013. She has hinted us many times that its coming soon. She doesnt need to give us info on anything even if she has the album 100% done. She just arrived to North America, she is taking it slow. Just as someone said before, she has been working on ARTPOP since late 2011, i'm pretty sure she wont be rushing it.
comrade 33
The way this is going, Gaga's electronic production-intensive sound will come off as dated when they finally decide to release something.

She's been lucky no other genre is taking over, yet the top 10 hasn't been overdosing on EDM. A year ago it look like Adele might spark a trend and FunGotye indie might take over, but lately we had Gangnam Style and Swift's biggest hit is dubstep. Mariano 958
The album is not coming later this year. And as some of you think that it is better to wait till the Q3 or Q4 than to rush the album NO. It would be better If she didn't announce the lead single August 2012. Release Q3/4 may even hurt worse than rushing the album (the way BTW was "rushed") because as I said some fans will be dead lol but seriously she announced it too early and It is already time to release something. May is the latest month Gaga can take for releasing the album Not later because this is becoming Cher formula. Who even cares about Cher's new album ? I love Cher and I was waiting for TGGT and her new stuf 2 years ago :X And Yes ARTPOP is really really important album for Gaga and she is just Quiet which is a good thing ! Expecting new stuff the next 2 months :) Late Feb/March release for the lead single and Late April for the album is perfect in my opinion :) Really hope the album will be released this way :)
