She def has some potential. And after finally getting a #1 album, im sure shell take a bit longer this time

I really hope so. Britney graced me with Blackout after a 4 year break and LAWD it was worth it. Hopefully I can say the same for Rihanna if she takes 2 years to make an album.

Let's hope Gaga does too

My faith in Gaga making a good album will never be lost simply because she is an artist who knows what she's doing. She clever and takes note from what the fans want, what the GP would be comfortable listening to and most importantly what kind of music she herself wants to make.

Taylor is a HUGE force in the US. She's the second top selling artist at the moment, right after Adele, in my opinion. Red is selling like hot cakes, literally - 150,000, 200,000 every single week since it was released with no signs of stopping. Not to mention the fact that Top 40 radio is finally embracing her singles, and the Grammys love her - she released and submitted WANEGBT almost simultaneously and it was nominated. Absolutely unbelievable. If I were Gaga, I would be worried.

It's because she still has huge support from country fans, who have been known to buy a lot of music, young preteen and teenage girls, soccer moms who are buying it for their girls but also for themselves to listen to, and now general fans of pop/Top 40 music who are enjoying her successful crossover appeal.

The chances of ARTPOP or any of Katy's/Rihanna's albums selling as much as Taylor are very slim. But, like everyone has said, internationally it is an entirely different story.

But I live in the U.S., and seeing Taylor sell all these albums with such a phony good girl image, a half-assed singing voice, and such rote, by the book lyrics and song topics really pisses me off. Let's be honest - who actually thinks it was her idea to do dubstep? Who thinks it was Taylor's idea to crossover to pop? She may write her own lyrics, but she is just another manufactured puppet of the music industry, and just like Katy Perry and Rihanna, it is working so damn well. I appreciate the fact that Gaga will never be that, even if her sales aren't as high.

The success of Ho Hey is just refreshing. Hoping this song would be able to achieve the same success as Gotye's STIUTK. :flutter:

I completely and totally agree! But, I don't fear for Gaga. I reiterate the fact that the GP is forgiving and fickle. They don't hold grudges against an artist if they didn't release the right single or if they didn't promote it or if it flopped. They don't know how Gaga's era performed and if we were to tell them that she went Double Platinum in the US and sold around 7 million copies WW none of them would say that it was a "flop". She has already said that she plans on making commercial music for the album so we don't even have to worry about that. They'll take her back in a heartbeat.

I agree. It depends on the music far more than it does the image. If the music is good, fun, relatable, it will sell well. Gaga will always have a huge fanbase that supports her, and she'll always have those casual fans that are interested in what her next move is, but to win over the general public is a task I have faith she'll succeed at.

Regarding Rihanna releasing another album, I'd love her to slow down too. But the reason why she's doing this is obvious...she wants the helllll out of her contract. I believe she has one album left with them??? So I'd expect that in 2013 and then maybe she'll sit down for a second.

I've also heard from a little birdy that someone huge (that hasn't been mentioned in this thread) is making a comeback in early 2013. Male...pop star...making a comeback. That's all I'll say for now :)

I think timing really helps sell Taylor's albums. They're released a month before Christmas and the run up to it keeps it going.

After not working for No Doubt, Nelly Furtado or even Christina Aguilera, I'm kinda worried about this types of "comeback".

Specially because I really want Justin Timberlake to dominate every chart. He deserves it.
