I've been to a few concerts in my life and I am just going by my personal experience. There were more teenage girls at that concert than any concert I've ever been to. You can see them around the board, they just aren't obsessed with charts. In generall, Gaga and Katy fans overlap more than most Monsters would think. Because six of her songs have reached the top ten on the adult contemporary charts, including one #1 hit, while Gaga only made it to the top ten with "The Edge of Glory". And there's a difference between thinking someone's hot and being a fan. Most teenage guys listen to hip hop, not top 40 divas. Girls/women make up the vast majority of Katy's record sales. Especially pop radio which is currently much bigger than it's ever been. My mom is actually under the impression that Gaga isn't popular any more because she doesn't have any songs on the radio. But I agree, you can't use it as the only way to gauge popularity. Katy and Rihanna are typically more consistent than Gaga with garnering airplay hits, but it's clear who the biggest star is.
