Americano 31,061
Huge overreaction to Gaga's break. It's not comparable to Christina or Nelly. 2 years is not long enough to forget about somebody, especially someone who was recently named by Guinness as the most famous person in the world. And people don't turn against musicians just because of long breaks. If anything, it's good for a comeback story. The problem is when pop stars come back with ****ty songs like "Big Hoops" and "Not Myself Tonight". It'll be interesting to see how she tries to formulate a response when an interviewer brings up ARTPOP debuting with half of the first week sales as BTW, regardless of how long the break is. There are plenty who rappers who put out stuff all the time, but they generally don;t sell that many albums. Nicki for example does quantity over quality. And how's Nicki doing in the rap scene? I doubt an interviewer would ask her about that, especially considering most of the interviews will take place prior to album release. And if the album has legs, then first-week sales don't matter and then there would really be no need to ask about that Interviewers tend to ask questions that are interesting to the public. Most people do not care about one-week record sales.

craig 680
And how's Nicki doing in the rap scene? Which proves my point. She tried to get more songs out after just 6 months, and retailers didn't want to stock it. Late 2011 - you were fretting about Gaga overexpose, wanting her to wind up BTW era. Bet once she cranks up the publicity machine, you'll be worrying about that again.

Lets look at the BTW singles and 50 Cent's/Lana Del Rey's careers, why don't we? And calm your ****, no one here is taking it personal except you. If you can't have a discussion about her choices without getting angry every time, you can post elsewhere Late 2011 - you were fretting about Gaga overexpose, wanting her to wind up BTW era. Bet once she cranks up the publicity machine, you'll be worrying about that again. No one told her to abandon everything for an entire year after a tanking single. Ozzy8923 9
Well, if we're arguing about breaks Gaga has been absent from Pop Radio for only 1 year. She hasn't released anything new in 1.5 years but she had airplay on Pop up until December 2011. A 1 year break from Pop radio is nothing to argue over. In other news, Nicki Minaj ties Missy Elliot for the most Top 10's on the Hot 100 by a female rapper with Beauty & A Beat reaching a new peak of #9. Her Top 10 singles (including collaborations) are the following: Bottoms Up - #6 Till The World Ends - #3 Super Bass - #3 Make Me Proud - #9 Dance (A$$) - #10 Turn Me On - #4 Give Me All Your Luvin - #10 Starships - #5 Beauty and a Beat - #9 28 = WILL.I.AM & BRITNEY ... Scream And Shout 2387 +180 1004 +55 20.796 +1.785 17 4 28 2387 1004 20.796 Another very healthy update and still Top 5 on iTunes. I pray that this is enough to propel the song into the Top 10 once radio picks up even more. Unfortunately, this song is suffering from the very common situation where digital sales and airplay don't align together to create the highest possible peak. Shame. But I'm just a happy that it's not tumbling down iTunes faster than a rock rolling down a hill. I want the song to have longevity.
