Whats avant garde about that? She isn't bringing anything exactly new to the table or taking it to the future... cause if she did, it would be more cohesive and would sound like music, and it would be more popular

Sorry 'bout that, I'm not that familiar with terms in music She was like a gateway drug for me into more eccentric musical styles which are not so much about catchy choruses and you know, stuff It's just fun and inspiring listening to harsh and eccentric soundscapes these artists create

I love when gays with the most cookie-cutter music taste act like music experts, they'd stan any blonde singer with a vagina that acts fierce yet they have the audacity to diminish other genres of music.  But i mean gays also think lana del rey is avant-garde so .. Honestly i don't even have enough energy to argue with people like you, it's useless. Stay in your closed-mindset  

Also like i said before, there are people who are more into the sound designs than the traditional music theory, at the end of the day music is just transmitting vibrations. "Music" is very much subjective and entirely dependent upon the culture and expectations of the society that the person belongs to. What one social group finds unappealing, uncouth, or even evil might be normal or strongly appealing to another. Maybe on other planets and universes they have a different way of making music. Who are you to decide what is music and what isn't?

I don't think that's correct. Avant garde is always not popular and deemed too bizzare or weird by the masses. For example, Mugler were not very appreciated by major magazine editors and critics of his time, until  later. Lots of Avant garde are misunderstood or even can't be understood. Avant garde is about making unusual or experimental ideas. And to be fair, SOPHIE did quite a lot of. TBH, you can't say  that "she didn't bringing anything exactly new to the table or taking it to the future..." cos the barometer for that is time itself. Not now, but much later.

You don't know anything about me   and you are trying to come for my taste when thinking pots and pans crashing together is avant garde music?    

I love many genres of music, I like hearing something that can move me. Whether it be in a vocal, or something in the instrumentation... if it can move me emotionally (sad, happy, excited, uplifting, inspiring...) then I'm down to give it a try. You are so quick to judge people because they don't agree with you. Its not closeted to have a mindset of "SOPHIE's music is just noise" because thats exactly what it is. You can butter it up and say "its just experimental EDM music" but thats not the case either. It doesn't come close to the EDM genre.

Music is subjective, you're right. And if I screamed for 20 seconds in different notes and called it a song, technically that would be a piece of music. But its not. You can't call noises stuck together without any flow or rhythm thats just irritating and call it music.

When I think of Avant Garde, I think of Lady Gaga... especially during TF era. Something thats boundary pushing, maybe unusual. I don't see how what SOPHIE is doing is boundary pushing. Its certainly unusual, I'll give her that. But I can't see it taking off at all... like there is just no substance to it.
