At that point, DWUW was my top Gaga song (and to this day is still my #2 favorite Gaga song). I also didn’t know much about R. Kelly or his past but based on the live performances and the promotion photos I knew that the video could be controversial - and gain her another hit and another video with millions and millions of views. I think now, after learning more about the whole R. Kelly case and Gaga’s career revival, I’ve accepted that it was for the best that DWUW did not get a music video release, whatever the reason may have been. R Kelly and Terry Richardson are both controversial too, for opposite reasons. Together, the video is commentary of fame and how media manipulates the narrative regardless of guilt. Crucify me. I think the whole song, context of the artists, and the concept are genius. Will still be here for it when it eventually leaks.
