This is so misleading. Can u point me when he fight and how for gay marriage half a century ago?

Because when you say that in 2008 dems werent ready to fight for lgbt issues, you are talking only about gay marriage no?

Sub par politician. Selling his medicine to the misinformed. Should have won primary already but seems to not get over last primaries insufficiencies. Hides behind "revolution" moniker. Pro Castro. Pro communist. Fringe socialist. NO THANK YOU, not on my watch !

I've already debunked your statement about him being ineffective or 'sub-par.' I already pointed to your comments about his 'insufficiencies.' He is not Pro Castro or Pro Communist. That's debunked as well. His comments on Castro are no different than Obama's comments. And with regard to Sandinista's and many other things, you make the incorrect assumption that America has the moral high ground or didn't have anything to do with the situation. You also misspelled democratic socialist. I know the terminology is really hard for moderates, but socialism and democratic socialism are different things. 1. Democratic socialism is still a democracy and also does not release control over the means of production to the government. Instead, the government does provide services like healthcare, education and housing to its people by various funding mechanism (taxes). So, again, you can vote for whomever you want but what you aren't going to do is sit here and post lies over and over again without a rebuttal from me.

The post said "LGBT issues." Not just gay marriage.

Ok, misread. You can knit pick my spelling and what not. I'm not going to try to defend a misspelling. The point is he's had alot of time to get things done and hasn't really made a dent in American politics except creating opportunities for the Castro's of the world.

Again, the post seemed to be about gay marriage.

In 1983, as mayor of Burlington, he signed a Gay Pride Day proclamation calling it a civil rights issue. He was one of just 67 members in the House of Representatives to vote against the Defense of Marriage Act, a politically tough decision he prides himself on and points to as a key progressive bona fide. Sanders opposed Don’t Ask Don’t Tell in 1993, another President Bill Clinton-era policy, and supported civil unions in Vermont in 2000.

He also spoke out in favor of gay marriage in 2009. Much earlier than almost every other politician that has ran for president since 2008.

Learn to read first before giving me advice.

I asked @fatcat about what lgbt issues he was talking about. He didnt respond. But if you know history, the discussions in 2008, the year he mentioned, were about gay marriage.

So learn some history also. :ladyhaha:

Ugg, except that Obama's hasn't executed hundreds of innocent people. The nerve.

What are you even talking about?

Obama said good things about the healthcare system and literacy rates/education in Cuba.

Bernie said good things about the healthcare system and literacy rates/education in Cuba.

Both denounced the authoritarian governments.

The two said the same things. So if you're condemning Bernie, you're also condemning Obama. So do you condemn Obama too or are you just mistaken and want to take back the condemnation of Bernie? That's the only two options out of this one my friend.

I said in the other post that I misread. Hitler did great things for his country but you don't see people praising him. Same thing with Castro, you just can't overlook the atrocities. Same goes for Obama if he offers murderers praise.

I fundamentally disagree. You are painting a world that is all black and white. The reality is that our world is not all good or all bad. All things are not just good or just bad. Also, Castro himself wasn't solely responsible for the healthcare system or the literacy rates. There were other people involved. He may have been the person who pushed for it to happen and he should get credit for that but that doesn't make him a good person because of what you already mentioned. A mature adult can separate the difference between the two actions and say action A is good and action B is bad.

I see there "one of 67 members" and "civil unions" not "gay marriage", things that other democrats also did.

Fatcat said something like "democrats in 2008 were on lgbt issues worst than Bernie was 50 years ago", which isnt the true. They werent ready to gamble all on gay marriage, which if I remember correctly Bernie avoid for a long time to talk about.

That being said, I'm not gonna act like Bernie's record is bad. I was just pointing out that statement made by@FATCAT  is not true.

PartySick

His record is one reason why I held out so long honestly. But I guess it's just because he doesn't own a lot of the work he does.

Meaning it's not a Bernie Sanders© law/bill but he puts in work.

Idk, still a little iffy but he's honestly the only option, and not even a bad one, so I'm not concerned :laughga:

Whimsical bitch
