And then, the godly Venus was again put back in favour of Do What U Want, even if Ruth Hogben shot a video for it. DWUW was acclaimed by critics and fans alike at first. Unfortunately, R. Kelly's involvement made it less pleasant in our memory. Sonically, it's still a bop. This trend was once again repeated when Gaga's originally second single for Joanne, A-YO was substituted with the now-classic Million Reasons, which obtained a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Solo Performance. So little monsters, if you want Gaga to stick with the originally planned second single this time, do not acclaim the promo single. Her promo singles always accidentally chart really high (Dope, A-YO, Venus) sometimes even higher than the official third single itself. We want all that energy for the official second single. I feel like it's more important to note that Judas as the second single was a bad choice (hindsight is 20/20) but 3rd with EOG was a great choice, it did really well. The DWUW/Venus debacle was such a big issue because she dropped Troy/a lot of her team around that time. Had all that not transpired we probably would have gotten a Venus video as 3rd.
