And she forced them to reimagine her again in their minds. I dont think people hated the song so much as they were confused by the direction. Like...alot of people were mistaking their original feeling for dislike for the song for just not sure if they were ready for pop Gaga again. The song on it's own actually is really really classic pop that is undeniably catchy. Which actually has proven to work because many people who originally were dissing it are saying..."damn...after a few listens I cant stop wanting to hear it." If something really is just a good song it will get stuck in your head. I listened to the leak and the "higher higher" part still gets me going. I think this song might actually have some legs to it. And I also think confusing people actually struck their curiosity nerve again, and it will keep people wanting to click on the 2nd, 3rd and so on and so forth singles. Confusing people can actually work sometimes. AND to the people saying she is just "going back to her old sound" I heard a really excellent quote on ET Canada today when they were talking about the song. They said: "You know what though...sometimes you have to go backward in order to go forward". And I thought that made so much sense considering the mindset of this era so far. It's all about nostalgia and understanding our relationship with eachother, society, music, and Gaga herself in order to proceed onward and be better.
