StarstruckIllusion 49,523
If y’all are using them to stream Stupid Love to get it to #1 in the US, but are using them, it’s time to stop!! BTS’ Army, the kings of streaming, would clearly know the best about success. Their views stay getting deleted. The industry HATES loopholes. It is a waste of time. I’d rather Stupid Love go #1 in 5 countries than just one, even tho it’s the toughest market to crack.
MonsterofFame 1,778
As someone who works in IT, this "announcement" seems misinformed. The whole point of a VPN is to connect to something using an actual server in that country. If you're using a US server, you're literally connecting to Spotify/iTunes/etc. from a connection in the US. The only way VPNs won't count is if 1.) your computer/IP gets flagged as suspicious activity and then it stops counting your streams or 2.) the service keeps a copy of all VPN service's IP addresses and blocks them. In either case, you wouldn't be able to stream the song. If the song is playing, the stream counts. Do you think the music industry would allow Spotify to play all this music for free if they're not counting them?
vyniildisk 12,689
As i said before. Guys, dont stress. We are not fads like Justin or his fans. The song will become a hit on its own, maybe already is, idk but let it dominate organically. Desesperation is not a good look, specially when u already have a hit on ur hands. Flow, let it be. Enjoy the success

No. They’d still probably get paid but it won’t count to the charts. People are using VPNs to get the song #1 in the US
Rio 5,088
I’ve been saying this since the Million Reasons era. No one ever listens and it’s taken 4 years for fanbases to start realising this.

People are using VPNs to get the song #1 in the US VPNs will work fine if the person is acting like a regular person and streaming from 1 or 2 accounts. But if they're streaming from multiple accounts at the same time via the same VPN, then yes they will probably be flagged by the system. Point is, you can count towards US streams if they don't abuse the system.

What if I use one account for multiple streaming services on the same internet connection like I am now?

truthteller 1,801
i agree, you should actually just buy her physical copy and redeem the digital from her US store (it'll probably count more) and stream from your local area. only use VPN to stream for another account. You could probably run upto 5 accounts per service per connection since they know families share internet. Don't forget that your cell phone is another Internet connection if you're not on Wifi! Cloudflare and SpeedTest offer free VPNs and they’re both reputable. Do NOT use Hola, ever. Stay away from no-names because some free ones do shady things.
