Americano would’ve been better

Yeah. I know Gaga was not in charge of what goes down for the halftime show.

but Americano would’ve fit so perfectly,

a biracial / bicultural love story

“if you love me, we can marry on the west coast” - literal wedding happened in the show

”will fight for, I have fought for how I love you”

”I don’t speak your language oh no” - the complaints of the maga crowd

“don’t you try to catch me” - referencing ice hunting down anyone who doesn’t look “American”

they could’ve done the version they did at jazz and piano…

I just feel like DWAS did not fit and it did not work well as a salsa track…. Who takes a song that’s in 3/4 or 6/8 time and makes it salsa????

Bad Bunny's message was about love and Gaga coming there with Americano would've made the entire show feel more like it was fighting something instead of celebrating culture.

I do agree that a mariachi version of Americano would've been fun to have there but I guess Die With A Smile being the hit that it is worked better as the wedding love song.

No. Honestly I think part of the reason people were so welcoming of her inclusion is because she sang something they know even if it was in another language. Way less people would be here for Gaga taking BB’s time to sing something they don’t know or understand. And the song was perfect for the wedding segment part.

STOP IT.

IT IS FOR A DAMN WEDDING.

STOP INCORPORATING YOUR POP SLAY FANTASIEZ.

Can we be just glad, she was invited to sing and have fun with a meaning. Not everything needs to be pop-perfect fantasy of stans lmao. :awkney:

"And I still love you even if I can't see you anymore."

It wouldn't have, actually. For a few reasons.

First, the show was mainly centralized around Puerto Rican culture, Americano was written about unfair immigration laws towards Mexican immigrants and takes notes from mariachi music. That's honestly a bit tone deaf imo.

Second, Americano is combative while the show was celebratory. The tones conflict too harshly.

Third, she came in on a wedding scene which...I mean, I hate how corny DWAS is but it's the perfect cheesy wedding love song :messga:

Fourth, DWAS is a hit that was easily translated into a salsa rhythm and slotted into the show to give Benito a second to breathe :diane:

It was honestly perfect. And that's coming from someone who absolutely detests DWAS :poot:

I would add

Five: I interpret the show as wanting to show that we are all Americans, because America is a continent and not a country, to symbolize unity (the end with all the flags) ; not about ICE or MAGA (the show wasn't about that). It was basically to make it clear that USA means United States... OF America, a continent. And a lot of people don't get it 😆

To add, I read online the people at the wedding were actual fans who invited him to their wedding and DWAS was their wedding song when they original got married.

Also people would 100% be saying she made it about herself if she came in doing Americano as well.
