8 people died. Yes, that is 8 people too much, but medical professionals die all the time from other viruses they treat.

Doctors and nurses would rather walk away from a brand new disease than risk their and their families lives. If they go on strike, we’re all screwed. Let’s hope they’re as optimistic as you.

I mean out of the almost 90,000 confirmed cases and the 2,942 deaths, that gives a 3% risk of dying

Out of 100000 people with the flu last year 6.5% of people or 6515 people had died

So take a deep breathe and relax. There is a bigger chance that you would die by a shark bite than the Coronavirus

Hun, it’s a brand new virus. It hasn’t even mutated yet. Your lack of respect for unknown risks is quite juvenile. Like why are you comparing a pandemic with a shark attack? Sharks don’t bite one person and then that person bites another ten people who then bite another ten people...Please stick to the logic of statistics and epidemiology.

I also think it’s strange, that if COVID-19 is really not anymore dangerous than the flu as some people claim, then why are the doctors and authorities seemingly much more worried about the coronavirus. Why are people from Wuhan, are city with millions of citizens, not allowed to leave the city? Why are people who have caught coronavirus not allowed to leave their home for 14 days? Why are hospitals making isolation areas for people who caught it? There's so many questions.

Because its new and kind of unknown kind of like back in 2014-2015 with ebola:shrug:

Well I am sooooo sorry for trying to get you to realize are minuscule the risk of death is right now. If you worry about these potential risks than eventually your life will just fill with worries, it'll consume you. Also getting ulcers over nothing is not cute either:derpga:

@Lord Temptation I'm still curious to know your thoughts on Influenza killing 10x the amount of people in the USA alone within the same time-frame as the Coronavirus?

Are you willingly just ignoring how bad that virus is? Or are you just succumbing to the scare tactics the media is pushing on us?

Ok, i understand your point of not becoming excessively paranoid. Which i agree with. But we cannot equate known risks with unknown risks. Coronavirus is a big fat unknown. If the doctors decided to go on strike, our health system would crumble. That’s why it’s been taken so seriously. It is an emergency that could escalate. Our entire health system is being tested.

I’ve already mentioned this: You cannot equate known risks with unknown risks. Should my worry about car accidents (there are 50,000 annually) stop me from getting into a car? No. Because the 50,000 deaths are not likely to jump to 100,000, or 200,000. This is the crucial difference between known risks ans unknown risks.

The long-term behaviour of a known risk is stable. The long-term behaviour of an unknown risk is unknown.

Just stay safe. Like everyone in the 80s said about AIDS, when it was an unknown and brand new virus, but some fools decided not to worry about it. Then 40 million people died.

How disgusting that the first response people have is “don’t panic”

I’m sure the poor families of the people dying from this are thrilled to know you’re not in a panic.

RIP to this person.

Sad that nearly 3,000 people have died from this virus that is more lethal than the seasonal flu.

Old people and people with weakened immune systems are people too. It’s sick that people are saying everything is fine just because THEY don’t fall into the population most affected by this.

Everyone trying to get others to have zero concern should book a flight to Wuhan and document their wonderful vacation not panicking.

There are dozen more diseases that kill more people monthly than Corona virus has killed so far.

For example Norovirus, common stomach flu that doesn't have any vaccines, kills almost 17 000 people each month.
