Yall pretending this is the second coming is really comic... It's bad. It's a brand new song, but compared to recent releases by new pop girls u can't say this is up there. Trust me I stan Gaga but I can't pretend... It's not the greatest.

Lol where did I allude to that at all? I have actually said multiple times that I don't care for the song that much and hoped it wasn't the single.  :awkney: I just don't feel the need to act like a whiny 10 year old threatening to flounce because one song isn't absolute perfection.

Imagine unstanning Gaga for Selena :selena:. And Physical being a threat? It took 25 hours for SL's MV to get 10 million views on Youtube. Physical took DAYS.

REALITY

Are you talking about this fanbase specifically, or are you including the GP as well? Cause if you are, I disagree. I think that there are a lot of people excited about her comeback. Just watch the reaction videos on YouTube. Many of them are Little Monsters, but there are also a lot of casual fans or people who just generally react to stuff that enjoy it as well.

If you’re talking about this fanbase specifically though, then I think most of it comes from the fact that the song leaked over a month ago. Had that not happened, I would have no doubt that more people would be more excited. I think whenever we get a new song that is completely brand new to us, then you’ll see more excitement.

Am I the only one feeling like the beginning of this era isn’t as exciting as I expected? is this normal? is this how gaga eras always were and i just don’t remember it? i just feel like this isn’t the reaction i’d expect from this stanbase after 4 years of waiting :bradley: and I even remember when lady gaga started a new era it was huge and i heard about it on the local news and people would talk about it... but it feels like we’re alone in this hype and even then it’s not that big...

WHAT IS HAPPENING

AM I JUST EXAGGERATING???

Why wasnt this post lmao'd before now

Nevermind though, i did what needed to be done:giggle:

Well the overwhelming majority of people enjoy the song/video, which are both getting universally praised by critics and fans alike. So yes, the single did indeed work and is garnering a ton of positive reactions.

You haven't even listened to the rest of LG6 so saying that they chose the wrong song is completely nonsensical.

I listened to the leak about 1000 times because I honestly thought Gaga wouldn't release it. I told myself that it was never coming cause it would be "stupid" to think it would be a good business move to release it.

But since it has been officially released, even though I've heard the song so many times, the hype and the excitement is still there. Infact, its probably more than when I heard it for the first time. The video was a SERVE and the song is literally timeless. Its so so so good. But hearing the leak and the released song has only made me more excited to see whats next, and to see everyones reactions to it. I can't wait for the next single and the album, I know its gonna be amazing. The hype has never died

I think the leak really damaged our community's enjoyment and perception of the song.

When SL leaked, this forum was buzzing and it was electric and people couldn't believe Gaga had actually made a new POP song.

Unfortunately, because the song took a month for an official release, a lot of the hype on here has died now.

It's really sad. Because if only the song didn't leak, that initial reaction would've been what we had now.

Oh well, I'm in my own bubble and I never heard the leak so my hype is well and truly up.

I think this should be a lesson to everyone to not listen to leaked material. Seriously - you robbed yourself of enjoying Gaga's pop comeback. And it'll most likely - based on reception - be the last pop era for another seven years, lol.

it is simple. the song leaked super early and now it feels too long until performances start. usually the lead single comes out and soon after performances start aswell giving fans enough new things to talk about

You will learn respect!

the most I've been hyped was with ARTPOP era.

It was so fun. She performed a few songs few months before the release and it was so amazing. She teased Aura in Machette Kills trailer. We were getting teased constantly.

And she used to hold Q&As on twitter. It was really a lot of fun.

But I think after ARTPOP she probably doesn't want to hype up her projects anymore. And I really don't agree with that. ARTPOP didn't flop because she was hyping it up. It flopped because she simply couldn't top BTW sales (1M in first week). ARTPOP was bound to underperform even if it was a masterpiece.

Also the era was torpedo'ed by her team. She changed her mind 3 times about the second single. One time it was Venus, then Gypsy and then she finally settled on DWUW. But no music video was recorded.

I was going to say the same thing...she got burned by ARTPOP. I remember a lot of publications around that time also blamed a lot of the problems on hype and over-exposure.

I do think there is another factor...the days of old school, buzz building releases are pretty much gone. A bit like how there are few real "movie stars" these days that can carry a movie by themselves, or major blockbusters that aren't comic book movies. Part of it is just the PR/advertising style nowadays—Taylor's the only one who did a huge roll out, and some of the media implied it came off as thirsty/desperate. Also....social media has taken the power out of a lot of entertainment news websites.

Plus, in the US everyone is talking about the primaries and coronavirus. Entertainment news is in the backseat.

*I will say...I honestly don't get some of the fans sometimes. I like the song quite a bit, but didn't expect such a good reception. Even Pitchfork gave her a positive review, and numerous big outlets have reviewed the track positively. Physical copies sold out on her website, it's still #1 on itunes, and the streaming isn't great but it's not horrible either. It has a very good shot of being in the top 5 or top 10.

I understand some fans may not like it, but....the reception (unless one cares about rando stan twitter) is overwhelmingly positive. What else did they want from the release? The only thing I can think of is they want 2010 level of media exposure, which just isn't going to happen. Also, it's kind of nuts that you type her name in the twitter search bar and one of the words is flop....look at it and it's mostly monsters calling it a flop and saying she deserves to flop for "cheap visuals."

True, of course. I mean in the typical Gaga sense, though :)

Joanne was pop but it didn't have the same vibe as 'PopGa' from a few years back. I loved it, nonetheless.
