It’s signature Gaga, really fun music that satisfies the creative cravings she has at the moment, reflecting where she is in life, the good, the bad, all rolled into epic pop music. Maybe it's mostly just personal preferences and no so much about the quality of the video or Gaga's performance. I really like this kind of aesthetic and I also have a strong feeling that we're gonna get multiple music videos that are all linked together. So much stuff about the promo was left out of SL video. It was our special secret. Now it got officially released, it actually feels like a dream came true! The video is really nice, and worth the wait. More tacky lasers, heart shape pink explosions, etc. Let's just say visual usually help elevate the music, not in this case. I also think the final version of the song itself sounds interesting, fleshed out, and catchy (despite generally not liking Bloodpop). This will be a petty rant about the costumes: Part of me wishes aspects of the costumes could have been a little more..."couture" looking? Or more edgy even? For example that metal O-ring choker Gaga has on is like...idk, already a cliché accessory in womenswear and pop music for the past few years. I guess I'm more nitpicky that the average viewer about this stuff, because my career is in fashion design. But I also remember there was a time (before 2014) when Gaga's entire outfit from head to toe would consist of the most detailed, unique statement pieces you've ever seen. Just insane, beautifully made, high-end accessories that no one else was wearing at the time. And honestly I really think it was little things like that which made a big difference and helped set her apart from the competition. Halsey or any K-pop bish will sport a metal o-ring choker. The old Gaga would have served a pink lucite LED flashing neck guard or something. Call me picky, but I do think the devil is in the details, especially now that the other pop girls have caught up to her style years ago. If I'm recalling correctly, I'm pretty sure the whole cast was styled by NicoPanda, which kinda of surprised me. His ensembles seemed so much more detailed and polished years back. I do love what she's wearing in the promo picture with the pink claw hand and the paillette-embellished shoulders. I hope to see more of that aesthetic going forward. It's definitely more on the PI/JD range (simplistic, singular) than BR/BTW/Applause (more complex, longer), although there are hints of the latter in its camp and choreography. While I wanted something more, this is a smart move. Safe? Sure.
