Another thing she needs to do is adopt taylor swift's music video strategy. Sprinkle alot of subtke clues for the era and /or reference something from your controversial background. This drives the repeat value of the music video at least for the first week.

I think part of the delay in releasing the second single  for Joanne was that Gaga's team/label weren't sure whether to follow up PI with Ayo or MR, and wanted to see what song was received better. I also wonder if Gaga and her team were expecting PI to be a hit as well - Gaga worked with high profile collaborators on it so it wouldn't surprise me if her team was expecting to resonate and land better than it did. 

But I agree that SL is showing signs it could be a proper hit, though we'll wait till the second week to see whether it has any longevity.
