Prisoner of Azkaban, the only proper Wizarding world film

It’s such a departure from the source material though. I recently reread and rewatched all of them and 3-5 take the most liberties.

I really struggled between chamber and Deathly Hallows pt. 2. I only put Deathly Hallows pt. 2 because of the emotions I had finally seeing it in theaters.

I love all of them but yeah this one (and the second one) are the only really 'magical' ones, they just got darker and darker after the 3rd and the last 4 especially all blend in together as one long dark film.

Well, the books are super dark, even more dark than the films ever became, so I didn't mind that. I just think the acting of the main characters got progressively worse and they focused more on "cool scenes" than meaningful plot development or dialogue.

Don’t you think OOTP is just too short for such a long book? It’s the shortest film yet the longest book. I felt it was like a bunch of montages summarizing the story too much. They cut out so much that they could have left in and still have an acceptable runtime.

The duel at the end is incredible tho.

My biggest problem with the book is that it contains too much unnecessary moments that make it too long. I think the movie did a good job getting the main idea of the book.

I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

I don't know

I love the introduction to the two best characters (Luna and Bellatrix) and the magic of the introduction the prophesy

It felt like this was the movie and book we're they really started to push their magic further then ever before when they we're being told by umbridge to do basically the exact opposite and stick with basics and be a good wizard and not learn to defend themselves

this really helps propel harry's character arc from a student to a more teacher and leader role which he will play and will be vital for the rest of the series to stop the dark lord

Pop Music and Lady Gaga forever!

Yessss. Books 4-7 should all have been 2 films each. There is so much detail that was missed 😭

The acting? They turned from child robots to really good actors imo.

Halfblood Prince remains unbothered as the best book. I’ve read it 8 times, and I still get new stuff out of it each time.

Absolutely. And I also really liked the movie. They seemed more interested in exploring themes and emotions in a meaningful way that time around. Love the melancholic atmosphere throughout.

But yeah, it still didn't match the maturity and complexity of the source material.

They weren't great as child actors but that's to be expected and they pulled it off with charm. As they grew older they couldn't make the cringeworthily written, wooden dialogue work anymore imo, no matter how talented they might have been. It's not really their fault and more the director's responsibility, but yeah, they ended up looking awkward and stupid to me :rip:

River

For me it's the first, it felt young and very close to the books and to imagination, then things started to be more mature and darker and it felt like a soap opera than an adaption of the books.

But overall, I'm not a fan of the movies, they cut too much, changed too much, some castings where bad, some models of the creatures and the environments were bad.

They gave too much importance to minor things and cut major things and imo each book had to have more than 1 movie so they could really dig into it..

Tonks was snubbed for example, one of the best  and most interesting character in the books was given less than 30 min of screen time total.

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Azkaban.

I looooove that one spell that was first invented for the movie; "¡BOMBARDA!"  :nooo:

Not to mention the Time Turner.

And this is where the series started to get real dark and interesting to read/watch.
