The Boys Scouts of America Files for Bankruptcy Amid Mass Assaults on Boys

The Boy Scouts of America has filed for bankruptcy amid controversies surrounding over 2,000, and potentially up to 13,000 sexual assault and rape allegations from former boy victims against counselors and scout leaders. Just in the past ten months alone, a collection of over 2,000 cases have been filed. The organization announced today it is filing for bankruptcy to protect itself from having to provide any financial restitution to the victims.  This comes after a recent testimony from a former organization leader who, in a federal court, admitted over 50,000 filed complaints regarding sexual assault against young boys within the organization were destroyed and hid in the 1970s. Victims claim that the organization's leadership was unwilling to update their methods despite the hypocrisy of the Boy Scouts motto. The Boy Scouts also recently came under fire in the last decade for their homophobic policies and transphobic policies that they did nothing about. The group claims to be a Judeo-Christian organization. 

As of now, the organization can still function on local levels under the protection of the bankruptcy, but it is unclear at the moment of the future of the Boy Scouts of America and whether it will file for Chapter 11-level bankruptcy, which would force the organization completely into non-existence. 

 

It's kind of sad and a Catch 22 because you want them to file for a complete Chapter 11 Bankruptcy so they can stop allowing this disgusting crap. But if they do that, they don't have to pay for any of the health services/restitution the victims might need. Hopefully the courts allocate whatever they can to help the victims before it's too late. For now, the Boy Scouts are in a lot of trouble and in limbo. This is going to become a huge story in 2020-2021. We are talking the #MeToo Movement of Boys is about to begin.

Well we really shouldn't compare the two. The two organizations have entirely different focuses. Why their names are similar is beyond me.

Leaving a bunch of boys in the hands of grown men (strangers) always seemed like pedo-heaven to me so this is not surprising
