I agree and this is the case of a lot of songs in the album. The songwriting is good, but they are produced in a way that made them age poorly. From today's perspective no only the title track but songs like Hair would have benefited from a more organic sound, but maybe that would have made them less apealeing back then

Omg exactly .hair used to be my favourite  song, i was completely hypnotized by it on first listen. Now i cant even make it through the first chorus

I like the live versions honestly. They keep the synths but everything else is done with live instruments and it sounds so good

I'm glad I'm not cursed with this "it sounds aged" curse a lot of you have. All her music still sounds epic and fresh to me :flutter:

Exactly it sounds wayyy better live these days

Sneaky Oliver

Because the album was heavily influenced by 70s and 80s music. It was a style choice not a production flaw

Both "Born This Way" and "Hair" sound better performed live (in my opinion). That said, the bigger problem I have with "Born This Way" (the song) is that lyrically, it's a bit too simplistic, and I know people who are offended by some of the wording she uses ("chola or orient-made"), and unfortunately, this undermines her message for some. It's also just lazy writing – in some cases, you can tell she was grappling to find rhyming words. She's capable of writing better lyrics. I find "Hair" to be a more empowering anthem, and several other songs on the album to have significantly more compelling lyrics.

Maybe it wasn't the song that didn't age well. Maybe it's you and your taste that aged badly :ohwell:

Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊

And wanna know what song did age well? Express yourself. No tea no shade but Madonna will always be Madonna and I wish I could’ve appreciated that more growing up

All these people who are like "Born This Way doesn't fit in with today's sound"

Honeys it didn't fit in with 2011's sound either.

It was anachronistic. It was an early 90s late 80s Eurodance album in 2011.

Only Scheisse is what I would consider Eurodance. But you are right about the mid 80s to early 90s era that the album seems to be an ode to. There is alot of Bruce Springsteen, Whitney Houston, Queen, Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Janet Jackson, TLC, En Vogue and Madonna in it. Glamorous and soulful metal-tech industrial funk pop.

Judas Society

I can't agree because I am impartial to this song. This song saved me from further depression and madness due to inacceptance of my own sexuality. This song will always be the song that is important to me.

Can't say anything about the song, but BTW album aged like the finest wine out there. It sounded nothing like anything mainstream back then and it still doesn't.
