So moderate Dems are flocking to the worst candidate because they don’t want to elect the most progressive candidate.

At least you said it, not me.

Democrats who vote for Bloomberg are awful.

yes. and idk if it occurred to you, but who can win vs trump isn't set in stone and people have varying opinions regarding it. does it make them awful if they think only bloomberg can win against trump? well perhaps to you, but not to me because i can follow the logic. now do i agree with that rationale? i don't know. i wouldn't put my life on the alter saying "i know with 100 percent certainty that bernie has a better chance of winning than bloomberg or vice versa." but you, you obviously know everything so i'm guessing you probably would bet your life on it.

That’s the kind of thing you think and say when you are privileged and/or don’t know anyone personally that isn’t privileged

Bloomberg was a Republican for his first two terms as mayor of NY and endorsed George W. Bush twice, he then registered as an independent while continuing to raise money for Republicans. He only re-registered as a Democrat in 2018 because he was considering running for president. Anyone attempting to muddy the waters on his record  is engaging in something indefensible.

He spent over $100 million to eliminate term limits in NY to remain in power:

He was a major proponent of the US's imperialism in the Middle East:

If you care about the abstract concept of maintaining our democracy, Bloomberg has explicitly called for the US to become an autocracy:

He has more sexual assault, sexual harassment and sexual discrimination allegations than Trump. He's been accused by 64 women and has been sued 40 times.

He's called for raising the retirement age and cutting social security his entire career:

He openly endorsed police harassing POC, created a policing system in NY that specifically put police officers in majority black and brown neighborhoods to harass black and brown people, and has said, repeatedly, that black and brown people "commit all the crime.":

He's said, flat out, that black and brown people don't know how to act:

The guy is a monster. An authoritarian, a blatant racist, a Republican, a serial sexual harasser. He has an undeniably worse record of implementing racist policy as a politician than Trump does. He's Trump minus the incompetency.

Anyone defending this man or is floating him as an alternative to someone like Bernie Sanders has exposed who they really are.

He qualifies so I can't wait to see him dragged to hell and back by the people who deserve to be there.

Not sure if this still holds but the last polls I saw had most if not all of the top Dems in the primary beating Trump. So flocking to the worst one does make these people awful.

And chill out with the personal attacks. I never claimed to know everything. Don't make assumptions for me.

It was 100% a snarky insult. Calling someone a know it all is never NOT an insult.

Just because people are passionate about X candidate doesn't mean they claim to know everything or that they're 100% certain of the future.

Except I'm not calling them awful for being passionate about another candidate.

I'm calling them awful for being Bloomberg supporters.

KNOW the difference.

But Trump has always been a registered Democrat and donated for people Hilary Clintons campaign. He only switched parties during the 2016 elections.

I don't know it's possible he was a very Centrist Democrat...

There seems to be a considerable overlap between the most Left Republicans and the Most Right Democrats

But overall his policies are definitely in the Republican side of the isle...

He may not be as Conservative on some stuff as some other Republican politicians and again his personal behavior I think makes him seem an even more conservative person than his policies alone would suggest...

But I definitely don't see enough progressiveness socially and economically for him to fit even as a moderate/centrist democrat so to me he's definitely a Republican regardless of what he may have been registered before the switch in elections

Besides, he did switch so that tells u he was not a devoted democrat

so people voting for somebody--however imperfect, but NOT more imperfect than trump--that they honestly believe has the best chance of beating trump  makes them awful (perhaps biden was their first choice, but he is faltering, so they go to the other moderate with the best chance of getting the nom), but to you they're awful.  try getting off your high horse and get your nose out of the air. know-it-all

But what it does say is that the fact people are willing to put in Mike Bloomberg  up as the democratic nominee even though he's a republican, even though it's actually WORSE than Donald Trump is very telling. For all the hemming and hawing of the same people who were angry with Sanders because he's not a democrat, they are happy to accept an actual republican as their nominee. What that tells you is that most voters are hypocritical, that most voters don't vote in their best interest and that the word, "democrat," is nothing more than tribalism. I.E.  you're either in the club or you're not.

Also, just because Bloomberg can beat Trump doesn't make him the better option as president. In fact, Bloomberg and his presidency would accelerate the decay of our country. He is supportive of every war, keeping wages low, cutting entitlements, propping up the rich, a surveillance state, racist policies and disdain for the poor and most vulnerable. You can make the argument of electability all you want but the people who are willing to do anything to get Trump out of office are literally insane that they are willing to say BLOOMBERG is the standard bearer of our party. It would push the US further and further to the right to the point that many people in vulnerable communities (black, latino, LGBTQ, etc) will live in a country that has open hostility towards them.

Let me say this very clearly: Bloomberg is no better than Trump and people who convince themselves that is true because they don't like Trump are (in my humble opinion) refusing to look at reality.
