darkchylde 14,857
the gag. i give literally no shits what he has to say. he's worth 110$ BILLION dollars. he could fix it if he wanted to and then fix world hunger as well. the NERVE to sit on a chair in front of a camera and talk about a problem he won't suffer the consecuences of & is choosing not to solve. fck that. That's a drop in the bucket I agree that much exorbant wealth is rediculous and ideally ppl should just be more generous when they are that insanely wealthy. Human nature makes ppl greedy. I wonder how many of us that built a company and had our wealth gradually rise would ultimately give most of it away... Especially with a lot of the rise being a surge in stock market which has the risk of falling significantly. It's so easy to say we'd be saints but most ppl once their wealth improves they do not become as charitable as they claimed they would when they were poorer I'm talking poor people the manage to become upper middle class (I don't know any personal examples of extreme wealth but the principal is kinda the same) But at least Bill spends a lot of time in these quests with green energy, global health issues and problem solving. Not only does he donate more than most Billionaires but he also doesn't just write a check and leave. He actually spends time of his working on the solutions himself He still does more of his fair share on climate change than some ordinary citizens that don't make the smallest little decisions like not idling their car or using re-usable bags... Not all of us can donate lots of money or spend a lot of time on solutions like Bill but some ppl don't do squat at all. At least this Billionaire is very involved regardless of whether he could do even more Could he be even more charitable? I think anyone who's a billionaire ultimately can be but he's no useless Jeff Bezos

I've seen a few giving a lot and trying to fix problems, like Akon using his money to help a few African countries get lights in the streets for example (he's doing more but that's all I remember). I agree that a lot get lost in the money but there's a quote that says money doesn't really change you like we think it does, it just reveals who u are as a person. Warren Buffet never wanted to give his money away to charities and different causes at first (I don't know if he's still doing it now), but apparently his wife was very upset she wanted him to give most of it away as she thought there was so much money that they shouldn't need and don't need at all. His wife was not blinded by money, she could've asked for mansions and a new ferrari, but she kept her job. It's a good excuse to say, we all as human beings would act the same way as Bill Gates or the richest people in the world who talk a lot and frankly don't wanna give much but to me it's false. They don't wanna do it cause their hearts not in it, if their heart is not in it, with or without money they wouldn't care to begin with.

Did Akon give away most of his money with his Africa work tho? Cuz Bill Gates did all kinds of projects in Africa too including fight against polio and chronic diahreah and sanitation issues and he didn't just write checks he spent a lot of personal time involved in it The biggest criticism really is he has the money to do even more But by that argument 99% of ppl don't do all they can with good causes either. What he did was creating a company selling solar equipement (I remember in an interview him saying that he gets them from China and does a lot of business in Asia), with the money he gets from the company he provides solar electricity in a lot of African countries. I just checked it's 14 countries and he reached 1 million households. His heart is in it, he found a solution with it and invested money to create that company by the way. Imagine what you could do with billions of dollars... it would be amazing. I wish people like Akon had that money and to me they exist. I don't believe when you become rich you're suddenly greedy and selfish, I think you can get lost in it, sure, but if your whole life you've always had the desire to give and help others, it'll reveal itself. I dont believe Warren Buffet has ever had that desire and it's proven actually when you read about his life, he used to be greedy and made the effort only after his wife forced him but it's the minimum he's doing for his conscience probably... Same thing for Kylie Jenner... and I find a lot of millionaires who came from nothing, dirt poor, grew up to give a lot to their community, for example Lebron James... gagzus 23,077
At first I thought “ain’t you dead tho” then I remember it was Steve Jobs who died not him I always got them mixed up djdjfk But yeah I kinda agree with a lot of people he could easily use 80% of his total net worth to help fix major problems so I don’t really care for rich people talking about issues that if every billionaire on the planet pitched in they could easily fix most of the world problems but they won’t because the gag is most of them are yt guys

I know there's a lot of greedy billionaires like Warren and Jezz Bezos that hoard everything and don't do squat But I don't think it's fair to drag Bill so much like the other user did considering he donated so many billions to good causes and spent so much personal time and effort (not just writing checks and leaving) to causes in Africa and green energy Yes he could have donated even more. I'm not saying he's a saint. But he's no monster jezz Again many ppl even on a proportional basis do way less than him... We can't write big checks like wealthy people but we can all do things to make society better or do our little part with the environment The average person can't be bothered with the most tiny things something's that IS within their power Someone whose spent thousands of hours involved in problem solving for big issues should get some credit for that regardless of whether or not he could have donated even more

Like 90% of ppl don't do almost anything in small decisions that is within their power to make the world a better place Billionaires may have a lot more influence as an individual But in principal if u don't do stuff u can just because someone else can do even more, those ppl shouldn't be talking That's my view anyway
Bt1 5,213
People should watch the interview. He has done a lot of things with vaccines. Who knows how many lives he has saved with that. He has donated almost 50 billions. People say that he would still be the richest man alive if he would have donated less. I know it is stupid to say something like this, but it shows how much charity his foundation has done. I think he also said that he wants to donate most of his fortune until he dies. So the criticism against him doesnt make any sense. If you dont like billionaires like him, what kind of billionaire do you like? Are we at that point when we hate all billionaires, no matter what?
