CNN: Bernie is magical thinking on climate

So it seems Sanders has good aspirations, but not a path to make them happen. He basically makes promises that he knows that he cant deliver.

Edit : after looking a little bit more information on the subject, it seems that it's not as black and white as the host put it. It still remains a huge  challenge that probably wont happen for multiple of reasons, but theoretically, if all the people in the world would agree with Bernie s plan, it seems that it's not imposible.

He lost me with the "solar requires a backup source" lie. The sun doesn't stop providing energy when it's cloudy and you can store excess energy.

Idk how widespread it is but here in Florida you can actually sell excess energy to FPL (Florida Power and Light) to save on your light bill. Then they can redistribute that across the grid.

It's a fair point that Bernie's goals are a bit "run before you can crawl" but my two counter points would be 1) climate change is an emergency and requires immediate and drastic action. And 2) out of any viable candidate, Bernie's the best choice to get us on the right track, even if he doesn't hit his goals.

Media needs to STFU. We need to do something significant about climate change. I’d rather Over ambition than... nothing.

Thinking we need to implement ‘realistic’ (aka good for major companies) solutions for climate change is also magical thinking. We need major action right now.

That's really not true, you should google how back up battery storage works. Additionally it's not just solar, it's wind as well. It's about getting the right mix in order to balance the grid.

Climate Change is an emergency. There is no time at all for the bare ass scraping minimum that others are offering.

It will be interesting to see Bernie totally fail on his promises and also make some problems for some industries. :trollga:

Parts of the world where renewable sources of energy are used even reached a point in which the electricity provider has to pay its users because it is so cheap and so abundant. To think that a person will not have electricity when it's cloudy is very ignorant, and it really shows how much you know about the subject you're attempting to talk about aka nothing. You didn't even read the comment, it seems. You said something that the user above you refuted.
