I encourage you to read this Financial Times article to understand how problematic Klarna’s game is and how it can seriously affect young people’s mental health, a cause Gaga says is extremely important to her.

Okay, I read it. Still don't see it as problematic. Look, people buying **** they don't need and can't afford are often trying to fill a void of some sort. Yeah, being in debt sucks. I've been there. It's a fact of life for many. But really, someone who is digging themselves deeper into debt in the name of luxury purchases already has mental health issues that need to be addressed. You can't get mad at the the stores selling this stuff or the banks financing their poor choices. At some point, people need to take charge of their lives and make sacrifices when necessary. This isn't like predatory student loans. These are loans to buy CRAP NO ONE NEEDS.

Not who you're responding to - but wanted to share my thoughts.

I think it's pretty obvious Gaga doesn't have to sell anything she doesn't want to - clearly.

My guess is that she backed this campaign solely for B. Akerlund. It's likely she asked Gaga to come on board, and it was just a pretty straightforward 'transaction' for a friend.

Who knows, she could be working with Jonas on the SL music video.

In my opinion, Gaga isn't at fault here.

She did a 'favour' for a friend.

The person at fault, again imo, is Bobby.

He should be more careful in who Gaga aligns herself with. I would think he just gave this an easy green light, based on the Akerlund connection.

And remember, Bobby gets 20% of whatever Gaga is paid - and a fee is a fee.

If anyone is 'money grabbing' here, it would be Bobby. He may have just granted blind 'permission' for this because it was a quick cash grab on his end.

Coupled with the B. connection, he probably didn't scrutinise this in the way he should've.

There's no way Gaga needs the money, so I think this is the only explanation for this.

I get what you’re saying and I’m 100% sure she did this as a favor to B. But Gaga is a grown woman and advocates for a lot of social issues so she needs to be on top of everything she promotes. Otherwise it looks like she’s just using social issues to sell stuff. Like this post where she says whatever about LGBTQ and women’s rights to sell a ring.

You're totally right.

Hate to get on the bandwagon with the Enigma 'hate' - but there's definitely a disconnect going on with that show.

She clearly knows when and how to serve, she just doesn't translate that to Vegas.

I mean, look at her fashion up until / around Enigma. We had the Super Bowl, JWT, ASIB era, Haus Labs era... Enigma is the anomaly.

And for the Joanne era she looked brilliant.

Really odd.

Anyway... back on topic - she looks incredible here. And I LOVE the teacup. What a throwback.

But you see, you actually articulated your opinion thoughtfully and respectfully unlike some members on here.

I very much agree that there is a disconnect with Enigma. At the beginning I thought maybe they were rushed and didn't have enough time to plan the outfits but since they haven't change so far, that's clearly not the case. Aw well

It's selling which is essentially what matters

It’s not what I think honey, it’s a FACT. A quick search will show you that they profit off of it. It’s not about being moral, it’s about walking the walk.

And so what if they profit off it? That's what businesses and banks do! They ALL profit off people making a CHOICE to support them.

This is extremely predatory tho. It’s what capitalism is all about. Selling a lifestyle and crap you don’t need and taking more and more money from you until you have no way out.

No, its not predatory. Predatory lending is very specifically defined type of behavior.

All proceeds from the sale of the rings will go to Dress for Success, an international not-for-profit organization that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire, and  development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

I’m with you on this. I’ve used Klarna (for Gaga tickets actually haha). The interest rate was about the same as my credit cards, and with the way they set up the payments you have to pay it off within a reasonable amount of time, unlike a credit card where you can just make minimum payments for the rest of your life. I don’t remember what the approval process was but I’m sure there was one and that people would have to be 18 to use it? I don’t understand the big deal here. People are always going to buy stuff they don’t need and a lot of people are always going to live beyond their means. Klarna isn’t any worse than credit cards. It’s not a payday lender with 400% interest or whatever they are

I’m sorry but It’s really hard to get behind what Gaga supports these days. Is she really making a Klarna add? The bank that is getting kids into debt traps all over the world? After speaking about mental health just a month ago? This is seriously disgusting and I can’t believe she’s doing this. Haus Labs cash grab is one thing but this is a new low for her.

Y'all are always doing the most omg. :lmao:
