See above, I should've clarified I meant the lead character (like they're already planning to do).

Also I don't see why there couldn't be a trans slayer. The legend never said anything about being physically female at birth. I think it'd be a great message to say that trans women are included.

I think there is a possibility of a trans slayer - the comics play with the idea of boy slayers and the idea that it’s not as restricted to cis females any more so who knows.

My favorite seasons are 2, 5, 6, and 7

Nice! I never understood the hate for certain seasons :huntyga: Maybe because I watched as an adult that I found the latter seasons more digestible and relatable?

I would kill for a Fray series too

The taste :applause: the only comics arc I’d use for the TV if the new series does happen. Gives it a bit of a twist that separates it from the original show (and other shows).

I'm not saying there couldn't be, but I think they'd have a difficult time explaining it in a way that makes sense. So much of the world doesn't understand anything about trans people so if they were able to do it properly in a way that was true to what trans people not only deal with, but the biology and science behind it, I say great!

But I also don't know if it "makes sense" given the history of the show. I mean, think about this: with non-binary people...are they suddenly supposed to completely change the legend and lore of "one girl in all the world" to "one them in all the world"?

The focus of the show has always been about female empowerment at it's core, so I don't think the show should rewrite it's entire lore just to accommodate and be inclusive of other groups. However, considering they changed the way it works with the end of Season 7, they could easily come up with a way to incorporate other types of people in a way that makes sense (although Season 7 is just one giant season of plotholes so maybe not lol)

NEW stories need to be made for all the other groups, versus rewriting history in order to provide them with the stage. Give them a new stage and push forward. Just like how many POC complain that instead of making new bad ass characters to represent them, they keep recasting white characters and making them black. POC and marginalized groups deserve quality stories tailored to them, versus drag and dropping old stories because writers are too damn lazy.

Yeah, I always felt like the odd one out for liking season 6 so much. It was depressing and dark and kind of mundane in ways but I felt like that made it more real and relatable. Buffy’s timeline also synced up with my own life a lot at the time and I was pretty depressed then so it was therapeutic.

And Fray was the first comic series I seriously read - just the idea of it and the spin on the mythology were so good. And then to see that scythe in season 7! My brain exploded. I would love to see more of that in a high budget sic-if show with Joss at the helm. I’m excited to see how much of it is explained or address by the rest of the comics.

truly good shows pick up the award acclaim.

Then explain why Mindhunter was cancelled despite it receiving universal acclaim.

Or how GoT was nominated for awards for its final season despite the General Public absolutely hating it.

Also explain why Bad Romance peaked at #2.

Seasons 6 and especially 7 were a drop in quality, but I still love them.

And I would literally riot in the streets if they attempted to adapt those shitty comics they made. Not Fray tho, they can adapt her.

I remember working in a burger place while Buffy is also at Doublemeat palace :huntyga:

The new series (if it happens) needs to stand out from the dozens of similar shows today. It is a crowded genre whereas before Buffy only had Charmed. Right now Supernatural has the monopoly on it and once it finishes (Magicians, Lucifer are also ending) the genre is clear. Sabrina has met criticisms in its third season and I can see why.

If they use Fray, the aesthetics will be unique with a futuristic feel. I just hope they don’t throw in too many sci fi elements because it will ruin the dark occult feel of the show.

Imagine how I have to deal with “should have ended with season 5” for both Buffy and Supernatural :triggered:

This! I actually tend to think the shows and music that get all the awards tend to be worse than those that don’t. Awards are frequently given to mediocre, cookie cutter material that is designed to appeal to the masses and not ruffle feathers. There are exceptions when something is so good that it can’t be ignored but this does not happen often. I personally like the shows I watch and the music I listen to to not fit into neat little boxes and to shake things up a bit. Buffy may look different in hindsight but at the time it was on it was pushing boundaries all over the place in terms of dialogue, character progression, plot points, social commentary, and female empowerment. I don’t need it to win an award to know that it meant something to me and that it was well done.

Haha Doublemeat is double sweet. - that sounds so dirty now lol.

I agree - there is a spot for a good quality super natural show coming up. I haven’t finished Sabrina season three yet but it already started out weird.

I think Fray could be a good combo of sci-if and horror/supernatural - like Firefly meets Buffy but I agree that I wouldn’t want it to be too sci-fi. I think the comics did a good job of that so I would hope they model it after that.

I have already tried watching a lot but so far no other show has enticed me as much as Buffy and Supernatural have.

Another common suggestion is an anthology of the new slayers but I don’t want to keep getting new slayers every season. It won’t let us be attached to the characters. Fray lets us have continuity with a unique setting.
