Bloomberg's Racism Exposed, Tried to Bury Racist Recordings

In 2011, when current presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg was mayor of New York City, there were 158,406 black teenagers and men between the ages of 14 and 24 in the city. That same year, New York Police Department (NYPD) officers stopped and searched black males in that age range 168,000 times.

The NYPD's use of stop-and-frisk was so flagrantly racist and invasive that in 2013 a U.S. District Court judge found the practice unconstitutional.

In fact, Bloomberg was defending stop-and-frisk as recently as 2015, well after it was ruled unconstitutional. He reportedly advocated for the discriminatory practice at the Aspen Institute that year, but afterward he pressured the group not to release any recordings of him speaking. On Monday, audio of that appearance leaked. In it, he says, "Ninety-five percent of murders, murderers, and murder victims fit one M.O. You can just take a description, Xerox it, and pass it out to all the cops. They are male, minorities, 16 to 25."

He continues: "Put the cops where the crime is, which is in minority neighborhoods. So one of the unintended consequences is people say, 'Oh, my God, you are arresting kids for marijuana that are all minorities.' Yes, that’s true. Why? Because we put all the cops in minority neighborhoods. Why do we do it? Because that’s where all the crime is."

Despite the wide criminal justice disparities between different races, Bloomberg has advocated aggressively in favor of racial profiling. In a second viral video from a 2013 interview with the New York City radio station WOR, he tells an interviewer, "I think we disproportionately target whites too much and minorities too little."

None of this is necessarily surprising coming from Bloomberg. Under his leadership, the NYPD illegally surveilled Muslim communities in New Jersey, infiltrating schools, mosques, even going undercover on whitewater rafting trips in the hope of uncovering terrorist plots. The extensive efforts didn't turn up a single terrorism lead. Investigations from multiple news organizations confirmed that this surveillance was based strictly on racial profiling rather than on any actual evidence. Bloomberg defended the practice, saying simply, "This is a dangerous place."

Not surprised. He is a  racist and anyone with half a brain knows it.

This is the savior centrists want to put up if Biden collapses. Shameful.

Right. He's a despicable human being, absolutely racist. Now he's buying his way to the Democratic primary, and has no business being there.

Especially no business calling himself a Democrat when to this day he's donating to Republicans.

Okay I’m NOT agreeing with it but if an area does have people dealing drugs or having other crime issues, stop and frisk should be used, but not with reasoning like “oh it’s a minority neighbourhood so that’s only why we are going to stop and frisk there” and “we don’t frisk minorities enough” like no sis that’s RACISM

I haven’t worded myself properly according to grammar so if I sound stupid I’m sorry but I’m spitting facts luv

Harris Walz 2024

I don't think he's angling for the minority vote. Trump won with very little minority support. He's courting super delegates for a brokered convention. He's definitely THE wildcard in this race. With billions to invest in his campaign, he can easily lock up a 15 to 20% block of delegates if not more.

I don't like Bloomberg, I think there are some very smart reasons he relies on ads and has not debated or showed up to Iowa and NH.

He is not a viable option for me. I like him better than Trump. I don't like him better than anyone else in the primary.

That is his problem and one of the reasons why he doesnt want to get on that debate stage.

However, black voters dont care. Some polls have him second to Biden with afro Americans.

To be fair, a lot of that has to do with people simply not knowing this and not being informed about him.

Which is why the media should be doing its job in covering this but is failing miserably as it does with most things.

I think that if he comes to the next debates and really gets challenged on this, and if this issue gets more coverage as it should, that support will drop.

I'd also like to see how much of that support from AA comes from young AA voters. My hunch is it's not very high just like Biden's isn't with young AA.
