On Saturday 8th February, the people of the Republic of Ireland went to the polls to cast their votes to elect a new Prime Minister of Ireland. Counting started today (9th February) and the results are coming in. Already we have seen a seismic change in Ireland. The current Prime Minister, Leo Varadkar, has LOST his seat to the Sinn Fein candidate, Paul Donnelly. The exit polls put the 3 main parties neck and neck... however, recent polls since the results have been coming out now put Sinn Fein in the lead with 24%. Its still early days and the votes are still being counted... but as of right now, out of 160 seats... 16 have been declared. 14 to Sinn Fein, 1 to the Greens and 1 to Fine Fáil. https://www.rte.ie/news/election-2020/ This is gonna be an interesting election for sure could we see a reunited Ireland in the near future? ESPECIALLY when the EU have said that a reunited Ireland would be totally accepted in the EU.
