Trump SCARED of Bernie

Leaked audio reveals that Donald Trump has a very sane fear of Bernie Sanders as a political opponent.

Trump tells in a fundraiser that he's glad Bernie wasn't Hillary's VP pick because he would have been much tougher.

Trump literally says at one point: "Bernie would have been tougher. I'm worse than he is [on trade]. . .He was the only one I didn't want her to pick."

At 2:17, they also explain that Trump actually received just 12% of Bernie primary voters from 2016 (not 20%), and that data shows most of these 12% were older conservative voters who had come over to vote Bernie and would never have voted for Hillary under any circumstance anyway.

That fact only provides further evidence that Bernie is the best positioned to bring over independents and moderate Republicans as the data show it to be. Unlike certain centrists who have no data to support their claims and really just hate Bernie would have you believe. :ohwell:

TBH I think Donald was destined to win in 2016 regardless of the Dem candidate, as is also the case this year

Wow I don’t even remember her pick for VP, did she even have one? I’m glad he’s nervous and I hope Bernie can pull through

Not sure if you even read or listened to the data of which voters who went for Trump, but had Bernie been the candidate he would have likely kept those voters that went for Trump because they would never have voted Hillary, and he would have brought more independents over. Independents went for Trump in 2016, but Bernie actually does much better with Independents compared to Trump and all the other Dem candidates.

Especially in the swing and battleground states that matter the most, independents are crucial for determining the President. So, your "feeling" is simply that and is not really borne out in the data.

As 2016 proved, you don't run a weak, moderate establishment candidate against a populist like Trump. You run another populist who can actually compete with the kinds of voters who will ultimately determine an election.

sadly trump is gonna win 2020 too...

Well, an attitude like that sure isn't going to help anything!

Dems win when they get people out to the polls. If you think that and don't care to go out and vote, then of course he's going to win.

It's almost like we aren't talking out of our asses when we say things like "Trump is a fake populist, and Bernie is the only one who can point that out effectively" :fan:

The way this "bernie is so radical he'll never do well in the midwest or the south" narrative has corrupted people's brains into forgetting that Bernie is overwhelmingly the most popular candidate with independents and non voters too:rip: Amy Klobuchar said she's got the independents last night but it just aint true, and I wish Bernie would speak up about himself more. He also received votes from more young people of color than Hillary and Trump COMBINED in 2016. And then, unsurprisingly, there was lower voter turn out amongst black people in the general. Almost like some black people didn't love Hillary "superpredator" Clinton and felt she didnt earn their vote, or they thought she'd win anyway.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. I think his support would go up even more if he boasted about some of his accomplishments and record.

For example, if Bernie brought up his civil rights record more often than his support among AA voters would increase exponentially. I’ll quote myself from a prior thread:

Imagine having to lie like that in order to appeal to black voters :rip:

Meanwhile Bernie has actually lead sit ins, chained himself to black protesters to prevent the installation of Willis Wagons (poorly constructed trailers made for black people to learn in since they were barred from using white classrooms) and was even arrested for protesting segregation:

Bernie almost never talks about his civil rights activism. But when he does he can bring up news articles and old photos taken of these events, no lies or fabrications are needed.

I myself as a black person find these photos to be awe inspiring and powerful. Now granted I don’t know how he would be able to share these photos without coming off as a narcissist, but I really wish they could find a way to propagate these images and his history of civil rights activism.

I think hes just a humble person, nothing about him reeks of doing things for acclaim. Learning that he often leaves his name off of bills didnt surprise me either.

Idk how he could bring those things up  either. There are certain parts of his appeal that IMO come better from surrogates, canvassers, his staff, and supporters than from his own mouth. But there could be a better balance of self advocacy for sure.
