Not a record deal. A publishing deal

What is the difference even?

And why does it need to be separate? Like why couldn't they both be in the same deal?

What does this mean? I don't really know what such a deal would entail.

Me neither.

Would love if someone could help to clarify!

if i got it right, publishing deals are related to the rights of distribution / explotation / etc and record deals are related to exclusivity for producing albums

someone may explain it better tho, please @ me too

Basically, they’ll own a portion of the music she publishes. This means they’ll handle the distribution of the music, and they’ll handle the royalties from the song being licensed for TV, movies, Ads, Compilation Albums and other commercial use.

A Record label does also distribute the artists music, but they also provide money for projects, music videos, marketing, PR, Radio promotion
