Lord Temptation 11,209
Never been the biggest fan of hip hop music but God I love the hip hop community. When they go in they go in. Waiting for Billieâs official apology

Like I don't see how 1. the two are connected, and even 2. how Billie has ever even tried to be edgy Iâm a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill. Like I don't see how 1. the two are connected, and even 2. how Billie has ever even tried to be edgy Is not an obsession, is just one of the main reasons why she is criticized.  She basically criticized people being inauthentic, bragging, presenting themselves in a different way than they are, you name it. Just like rappers are rapping about women and guns, she presents herself in a non-mainstream and edgy way (see her music videos, songs, album cover, fashion). In these aspects she tries to be edgy, some would even say her accent tries to mimic African American accent and if so the only reason she does it is because she tries to be cool. Her whole image, from a marketing perspective even is ''her not being like other girls''. She tries to and presents herself as different and alternative. The two are connected because there is a disconnect between how she presents herself and that her inner core is a normal teenage girl who loved Justin Bieber and lives the same way as any other girl. But sheâs not presenting herself anyway. The stuff sheâs wearing, the album cover, etc. thatâs her, but I donât get how that can be seen as trying to be edgy. That feels like her expressing herself and presenting her identity.  I guess I just never understood that argument Iâm a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.
