Since 2016 when Trump took office annual immigration of Indians more than doubled in Canada from 40,000 a year to 85,000 in 2019

His tougher immigration policies as well as atmosphere of xenophobia that scare some cultures feeling they won't be accepted is believed to be the case. Some other Cultures finding US immigration like Nigeria are also seeing substantial rises in Canada

Of the little over 417,000 immigrants last year, Indians made up nearly 20% of that number

@OBEY @JustinTrudeau @PunkTheFunk I love Indian food and culture. I could so go for even more Indian restaurants. That butter chicken and their samosas are devine :lolly:

And I'd know. I literally live in one of their colonies outside India (Brampton)

I mean. I'm sure there's many Americans who think that way

Just like there are a few Canadians who look down on brown immigrants

The way Blacks and Latinos have long faced racism in the US, here in Canada the group that gets the most subtle hate is "brown people" so Indians, Pakistani, Persian/Irani etc

Outright hate crimes and stuff are kinda rare but I hear certain remarks from time to time stereotyping the crap out of them (they smell bad, they are cheap, they are lazy etc) :triggered:

Also in extreme cases... This was in the Toronto area and the racism was against a brown doctor and she was pissed that there was no white doctor available:

All of them except a few in Toronto :laughga:

Figured. I swear half of Canada's Indian Population decided to concentrate in Brampton. I'm a minority as a white guy here everyone is brown :emma:

Even famous or important Indian Canadians are from Brampton like the comedian Russel Peters, or the Federal NDP Party Leader Jagmeet Sing... All from Brampton :ladyhaha:

Some years ago the Indian Prime Minister came to Canada and decided to visit Brampton. The PM must of known someone here or had cousins etc :enigma:

The nicknames from Brampton are "Bramladesh" or "Brown Town" cuz most immigrants that aren't Indian are still brown (like Bangladesh, Pakistan or Trinidad)... Such racist nicknames tho :sis:
