I agree with you completely, but it's just funny to me that MANY of the users on this site including the Admin don't believe the same thing for Muslims. I wonder why....

But if someone comes out and talks about muslims, the way a lot of people on this site talk about Christians, then all hell would break lose.

We just need to do better on this site and not make such ignorant and broad terms like “Christians are horrible people”. The woman in the video is a horrible example of a Christian, but the other woman in the video is a fantastic example. Quit judging people based on the loudest.

I hate when people use their religion as their basis for ignorance and hate :madge:

I debated for years whether I wanted to practice Christianity because I really didn’t feel like I could possibly follow a religion that has so many people who think like this.
Only later did I realize that it’s about the people, not the religion.

That’s an issue as well. No person should be held responsible for their religion if fanatics are causing hell. Muslim people should never be held to the standard of ISIS just like Christian people shouldnt be held to the standard of the KkK.

Religion gets associated with radicals because radicals are the loudest and draw the most attention, but people who have these extreme beliefs and prejudices are actually in the minority in most religions, and I find this site never takes the time to think about that.

Pop Music

thank god I didn't have that woman at my caucus when I came out to literally a room full of 125 people talking about Elizabeth warren in the process and my love for her

everyone was so supportive which made me feel even better about my choice (a real nice shift to what you might think of iowa)

Pop Music and Lady Gaga forever!

another predictable response about respecting homophobes coming from you. You are literally ALWAYS making the case of why trash people should be defended and demonizing those who have the absolute right to be offended and policing their reactions. I mean seriously I've seen you complain more about how people have "that kind of behavior" rather than going after the bigotry and cause of that behavior...  No duh this woman could handle it. She's not lgbt, she's a white, Christian ally :ladyhaha: She's barely faced anything in life... Of Course she's going to handle it the way she did... And she gained nothing from the conversation. It's not our jobs to get conservatives to listen. It's their jobs to not be judgemental dicks... This woman was so bigoted and delusional that she would never listen in the first place. I mean keep dying on the cross for the self victimization narrative pushed by conservatives who feel "attacked" all the time

Also slapping this dumb bitch is my GGD reaction. In real life, I would politely curse her out, turn away, and let the white Christian Nancy have that pointless conversation. But again, you're going to be more offended by my reaction to homophobia rather than the homophobia itself :bye:

@Economy has a point. While she has trash values. She at least is not being belligerent. News flash. But people are allowed to have an opinion. We may not like it. It may be terrible. But its a right. You cant force your opinion on someone. Period. The best we can do is find common ground and educate.

Okay guys... also notice what she said... "I totally respect your viewpoint on this" in response to the woman's blatant homophobia. You CANNOT respect these views. These bigots are very unlikely to change minds. These things aren't just opinions but verbally violent statements against other human beings. **** like this pisses me off...

You cannot respect the view. But what you need to respect is someone else right to have them.

it's religion in general, not only Christians.

I love how almost no one reacts to this post. If someone made a comment like this about Muslims they would get attacked (and rightfully so), but I noticed it's more accepted in general to write something like this about Christians.

I'm conflicted.

I've never met a woman as belligerent and unapologetic of her biblical defense personally, but over the internet (in forums or articles or blogs), I'm familiar with her mindset. No matter what point may be made, it won't change her mind. And she's right, homosexuality is condemned in the Bible, as is any marriage that isn't fruitful (doesn't result in offspring).

But, and its a bigger "but" than the one I sit on, the United States has protection of and from religion. Just like I am not entitled to inflict my religious views and rules of Hellenism upon others, neither are they allowed to do the same to me with their Christian views and rules.

This woman is lacking in empathy, and not much could be said by a stranger (or possibly anyone) that would sway her opinion on homosexuality. The best we could possibly do persuade her that his personal life doesn't matter because we should only worry about our own personal lives, which includes looking into which political candidates have the most impact on laws and policies that will affect our personal lives. His marriage to a man doesn't affect his thoughts own social, financial, and foreign policy issues.

I personally wonder how much better it would be if we taught our opposition not to be on our side, but rather to stop caring about their side.
