Short vs. Long Albums

Something that I've seen being brought up a few times in the past week, were your hopes for the track count of our beloved LG6. And some of you really just want a behemoth of an album, which is puzzling tbh.

I personally love short albums like MAGDALENE, Honey, Pop 2 and Melodrama. Typically a short album (8-12 tracks) has better pacing, zero to little fillers and perfect track ordering. That in turn gives it tons of replayability.

While on the other hand there's hardly any long albums (14+) without fillers and pacing issues. Not to mention listening-fatigue!

So, I've made this topic to hear your opinions on this!

I think we would like both at this moment of dehydration :laughga:

But if we're going for the short 8-tracks route, every song needs to be a 10/10 :trollga:

Anywhere from 12-14 songs is pretty good for me. I wouldn't necessarily want an 8 song tracklist, but hey, if every song on there was like the greatest thing she's ever created, I'd be fine with it.

I feel like after waiting so long I would be disappointed with only 8-10 tracks. However, I would be ok with something as short as Joanne. BUT I would love to have 15 haha

What's puzzling about wanting the music to last for as long as possible? Shorter albums generally means less fillers, yes, but they're over before you know it and then we're waiting 84 years for the next one. :enigma:

I get this sentiment, but not on a personal level:bon:. A quality album with no fillers just brings bigger fulfillment in the long run

Agreed, but I don't think that's gonna happen nor that it should. And let's face it, whenever someone talks about 'an 8 track Gaga album', what they really mean is TFM pt. 2. And that's never gonna happen. It was a moment in culture that can/should never be replicated. It wasn't even an album in the first place. What gained it the reputation of an album is a set of cultural circumstances that are too vast to be repeated. So yeah, if she plans on doing an 8 track release she should call it an EP from the outset. If we're talking albums, gimme that standard 15+ track Gaga goodness and cut the minimalist crap. She does tend to have significantly less filler tracks than her counterparts (to none at all, depending on the album) and I'll take that gladly!

If it's cohesive and tells a story then longer.

If it's just a bunch of edm songs ala you all know which album that lost itself then short cause it gets boring.

As a stan I always want as many new songs as possible but short albums just ALWAYS turn out better and more cohesive. I hate when there's a hard skip song midway through and ruins the flow.

It depends on how good the songs are. If you have 18 great songs: amazing. If you have 10 great songs on a 10 track album also great.

I've been really loving short albums as of late too though. They tend to be more all killer no filler whereas the difference between the strongest and the weakest track on an album with more songs tends to be much bigger
